Harry Connick, Jr. was born in New Orleans to Anita and Harry Connick, Sr. His mother was Jewish and his father was Irish Catholic. It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas
Harry Connick Jr. Lyrics

A lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look in the five
And ten glistening
Once again
With candy canes
And silver lanes aglow
It's beginning to look
A lot like Christmas
Toys in every store
But the prettiest sight
To see
Is the holly that will be
On your own front door
A pair
Of hop along boots
And a pistol
That shoots
Is the wish
Of Barney and Ben
Dolls that will talk
And will go for a walk
Is the hope
Of Janice and Jen
And Mom and Dad
Can hardly
Wait for school
To start again
It's beginning to look
A lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
There's a tree
In the Grand Hotel
One in the park as well
The sturdy kind
That doesn't mind the snow
It's beginning to look
A lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing
That will make them ring
Is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart
Oh, it's beginning to look
A lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
There's a tree
In the Grand Hotel
One in the park as well
The sturdy kind
That doesn't mind the snow
It's beginning to look
A lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing
That will make them ring
Is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart
Harry Connick Jr.'s "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" is a classic Christmas song that perfectly captures the excitement and anticipation of the holiday season. The song begins with Harry Connick Jr.'s smooth voice singing, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas / Everywhere you go," painting a picture of the festive atmosphere that takes over during the holiday season. The song then goes on to describe some of the telltale signs of the holiday season, such as the shiny holiday decorations that adorn the stores and streets, and the abundance of toys and gifts in every shop.
The second verse takes a more personal turn, as Connick Jr. sings about the beloved traditions that come with the season – hanging holly on your own front door, exchanging gifts with loved ones, and eagerly awaiting the start of the winter break from school. The third verse is perhaps the most endearing, as it describes the simple childhood wishes of Barney, Ben, Janice, and Jen for hop-along boots, a pistol that shoots, and walking dolls. Connick Jr. then brings the focus back to the importance of singing carols from the heart and reveling in the beauty of the holiday season.
Overall, "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" is a joyful and festive song that perfectly captures the spirit of the holiday season. Its upbeat tune and happy lyrics make it a staple on Christmas playlists everywhere.
