Mary's Little Boy Child

So the Holy Bible say
Mary's boy child Jesus Christ
Was born on Christmas day
Hark now hear the angels sing
A new king born today
And man will live forevermore
Trumpets sound and angels sing
Listen what they say
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas day
While shepherds watch their flock by night
They see a bright new shining star
Then hear a choir sing
The music seemed to come from afar
Now Joseph and his wife Mary
Come to Bethlehem that night
Then find no place to born the child
Not a single room was in sight
Hark now hear the angels sing
A new king born today
And man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas day
Trumpets sound and angels sing
Listen what they say
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas day
By and by they find a little nook
In a stable all forlorn
And in a manger cold and dark
Mary's little boy was born
The lyrics to Harry Connick Jr.'s song "Mary's Little Boy Child" describe the Biblical story of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. The first verse sets the scene by stating that the story is taken from the Holy Bible, and goes on to describe how Jesus, the son of Mary, was born on Christmas day. The second verse goes on to describe how the angels appeared, singing about the birth of the new king, and announcing that man would live forevermore because of this day. The third verse describes how the shepherds saw a bright new shining star and heard the music of the choir, which seemed to come from afar. The fourth verse tells how Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem but could find no place to stay, and so ended up giving birth to their son in a stable.
Overall, the song is a retelling of the story of Jesus' birth, with an emphasis on the joy and wonder of the event, and the idea that it brought the promise of eternal life to all who believe in him. It is a beautiful and inspiring song that captures the spirit of Christmas and the hope that it represents.
