Wow...you can really hear the influence this song would have on the following decades from its release. Even in the rock n roll of the 50s we can hear this type of piano work

Yes, that is how things that age work.

I've never heard the original sound so vibrant and big before like this. What a helluva great dub! Love this!

@Randall Riley I can't take much of the credit for the audio quality on this one. The audio on this Youtube video came from the Collectables COL-CD-7413 / SONY A 54684 CD that was remastered and issued in 2002. And you're right, the engineers did a superb job transferring this tune and all the ones on that CD - amazing sound for a 1939 recording. Unfortunately, it's hit or miss with these old 30s and 40s remasters - mostly miss when it's coming from a second-rate label of questionable repute. Thanks for listening and thanks for the comment!

@Randy Riley I just checked out your post of Connie Boswell's "Sweet Sue, Just You," and that's a really clean transfer. You said you did it yourself, and I'm wondering what tools you used. For the 78s I do myself, I use a combination of Audacity and Brian Davies' ClickRepair and DeNoise. But ClickRepair usually has trouble with Harry James' big fat trumpet modulation, mistaking the signal for record defects, and it can really tear up a trumpet solo.

@BubbaTex I have four or five programs that I use, including Diamond Cut, Sound Forge and Izotope RX7. The later two are far superior for declicking than anything DC has ever been but each have things that I like. I've also had issues with certain instruments being perceived as noise like some trombone solos, some very fat sounding trumpets like Harry's, rimshots on drums, etc. It takes a lot of babysitting at times. Glad you liked the Connie transfer! =)
