Late Night Talking
Harry Styles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Things haven't been quite the same
There's a haze on the horizon, babe
It's only been a couple of days
And I miss you, mm, yeah
When nothin' really goes to plan
You stub your toe or break your camera
I'll do everythin' I can
To help you through

If you're feelin' down
I just wanna make you happier, baby
Wish I was around
I just wanna make you happier, baby

We've been doin' all this late night talkin'
'Bout anythin' you want until the mornin'
Now you're in my life
I can't get you off my mind

I've never been a fan of change
But I'd follow you to any place
If it's Hollywood or Bishopsgate
I'm coming too

If you're feelin' down
I just wanna make you happier, baby
Wish I was around
I just wanna make you happier, baby

We've been doin' all this late night talkin'
'Bout anythin' you want until the mornin'
Now you're in my life
I can't get you off my mind

Can't get you off my mind
Can't get you off my mind (can't get you off my mind)
I won't even try (I won't even try)
To get you off my mind (get you off my mind)

We've been doin' all this late night talkin'
'Bout anythin' you want until the mornin'
Now you're in my life
I can't get you off my mind

Can't get you off my mind (all this late night talkin')
Can't get you off my mind (all this late night talkin')
I won't even try (all this late night talkin')

Can't get you off my
All this late night talkin'

Overall Meaning

"Late Night Talking" is a song by Harry Styles that speaks of a time when things aren't going exactly as planned and the need for comfort from someone special. It is a song about longing and missing someone who isn't around, but also about the willingness to do anything to make them happier. The song is about the start of a new relationship, when everything is still new and exciting. Styles sings about how he's been doing all this late-night talking with this person, meaning they can talk about anything until the early hours of the morning. He finds it impossible to get the person off his mind, even though they’re not physically there with him.

Styles sings about things not being quite the same anymore, indicating that something may have changed in their relationship or life. He mentions a haze on the horizon, symbolizing uncertainty or trouble, but he still misses the person. The line “I’ve never been a fan of change, but I’d follow you to any place” shows how much he’s willing to do for the person he’s singing about, even if it isn’t his normal behavior. The chorus is a repetition of his desire to make the person happier, no matter what it takes. The final repetition of “all this late-night talkin’” emphasizes the intimacy and connection between the two people and how it has affected him.

I think this video is showing all his past relationships and how his personal life is always being observed and judged (with the scenes of him at the art gallery, on stage at the theatre, and in the middle of the road with everyone watching). His relationships are always in the spotlight. And then in the end he's alone because of the pressure of always having his relationships public makes it so much harder for him to date.

woah this makes so much sense

Don't get me wrong, I love Harry but he is a celebrity and that is what goes on he and his signif other have to learn to deal with it. Relationships can't be hidden forever, if they do what kind of relationship would it be. It working out so far with Olivia.

@jolow1441

The only thing with Olivia is that they have bad publicity because of her cause she is not a good person

@@karinmk5218 When did society come together and decide that celebrities don't deserve the privacy they desire? Your excuses are selfish.

Harry's music is the type you can always turn to when you're feeling down.

@PaintingWinterMusic

(And the music from his new album in particular, it's especially emotional and healing)

By the way, I'd also be so honored if anyone wanted to check out my music too :)
