Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two bands that have recorded under the name Hate:
1) Hate is a blackened death metal band from Poland. The band was formed in Warsaw in 1991 by guitarist and vocalist ATF Sinner. To date they have released twelve albums, their most recent of which, Rugia, was released in October, 2021 through Metal Blade Records. The band lineup has changed many times over the years, and currently consists of ATF Sinner (vocals, guitars, songwriting, lyrics), Nar-sil (drums), Domin (lead guitars) and Tiermes (bass).
After numerous line-up changes and releasing a few records available solely in their native Poland, HATE signed their first international record deal with an American company World War III in 2000. The label released the group's early material on two discs titled “Holy Dead Trinity” (2000) and “Cain’s Way (2002). A year later, the band signed a contract with French-based label – Listenable, and released their next, highly acclaimed album “Awakening of the Liar” (2003), which is still considered as one of the Polish death metal masterpieces.
In 2004 HATE recorded an official DVD material titled “The Litanies of Satan”. Published by Metal Mind Productions, the DVD won a number of rave reviews in the metal press internationally. In that period the band’s style acquired some new characteristics - industrial and ambient elements appeared in the background of the main riffs. This style was later developed on the album “Anaclasis” (2005), which no longer presented traditional death metal but ingenious combination of death, black and heavy metal with distinct industrial influences. “Anaclasis” got great reviews in almost every metal magazine across Europe and was highly acclaimed as one of the most innovative albums in the genre. In support of the album, HATE went on their first full-fledged European tour with Carpathian Forest and Keep of Kalessin and appeared on a few important festivals such as Party.San Open Air and Winter Assault. In 2007 the band once again went on a European tour, this time accompanied by their countrymen Decapitated. In January 2008 the next album “Morphosis” was released on Listenable Records. It showed fast development of the band’s style as well as the production part. HATE got offers from numerous festivals, such as Metalcamp, Neurotic Death Fest, Brutal Assault, Screamfest, Summer Breeze O.A., Metal Heads’ Mission and more. In May 2008, HATE realized their first official video-clip for the song “Threnody”, which was shot in an actual coal mine in Silesia/Poland. The album “Morphosis” has also been officially released in the USA, South America and Russia. The year 2010 saw the band's further develpoment and intensive touring schedule. Their next album was titled "Erebos" and supported by tours in both Europe and America in the company of such groups as Hypocrisy, Sepultura, Rotting Christ and Mayhem. The band also visited Brazil, Mexico and Russia reaching as far east as Siberia. Coming back home, HATE shot their second official video for the title track "Erebos". In 2012 the group was offered a new record agreement by Austrian-based label Napalm Records. The album titled "Solarflesh" was released under the new flag in the beginning of 2013 receiving a lot of praise in the press and gaining the band further recognition the world over. In March/April 2013 the band was playing a European tour with Hypocrisy. In the early morning of April 6th, HATE's bassist Slawek "Mortifier" Archangielskij died in his sleep near Munchberg, Germany. He was discovered lifeless in the morning by other band members. An ambulance was immediately called in and Slawek was reanimated, but to no avail. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia. Mortifer's tragic and unexpected passing was a hard blow and the band's contunuation was at question for some time. After a few weeks, however, the musicians announced that they would come back. Having Mortifer's wife Aleksandra on bass guitar, HATE took part in Hellfest Festival in France in June 2013. After that the band played a series of Summer Festivals around Europe with a session bassist and announced that they were working on a new material. In March 2014 HATE are going to tour Europe again, this time in the company of Norway's Kampfar, and in June they enter Hertz Studio in Poland to start recording the 9-th full-length album with release pegged for late this year through Naplam Records.

Mesmerized
Hate Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hit the sink
I watch the bright crimson drops
Against white backgrounds
The pain lasts a while
But then turns to joy
It lasts forever
And then turns to death
Mesmerized with the sight of blood!
Soulless ritual
Over funeral sky
Mesmerized with the sight of blood
Soulless ritual
Mesmerized
Mesmerized
It is the way I release inner pain
No one can do me worse than I can do me
Sticky blade saws through my skin and veins
The lies. The Hurt. The shame.
Leaving me going down
The drain
Mesmerized with the sight of blood
Soulless ritual
Over funeral sky
Mesmerized with the sight of blood!
Mesmerized!
The lyrics to Hate's song Mesmerized depict a person who is experiencing a kind of release through the act of self-harm. The blood that spills out of their body is described in vivid detail as "bright crimson drops" against "white backgrounds." The pain they feel after making the cuts turns to "joy," perhaps because of the endorphins released by the body during self-harm. However, this joy is fleeting, and the singer acknowledges that eventually, their actions will lead them to "death."
The phrase "mesmerized with the sight of blood" is repeated throughout the song and serves as both a reminder of the singer's compulsion to self-harm and also a condemnation of it. The act of cutting has become a "soulless ritual" for the singer, one that takes place "over funeral sky," suggesting a sense of foreboding or impending doom. The line "no one can do me worse than I can do me" is particularly poignant, highlighting the fact that the singer is inflicting pain on themselves as a kind of punishment for the hurtful actions of others.
Overall, the lyrics to Mesmerized are a powerful and raw exploration of the complicated emotions that lead to self-harm. The song does not glorify or romanticize the act of cutting but rather depicts it as a coping mechanism for emotional pain.
