Hawthorne Heights developed a huge MySpace following that became a catalyst that would launch them from underground to international awareness. The band became regulars on MTV, their signature hit Ohio Is For Lovers the anthem for the new wave of “emo”. Their debut album The Silence In Black And White soon went Gold, and with their second album If Only You Were Lonely, the band scored Victory Records’ biggest ever debut, landing at #3 on the Billboard 200 in 2006. The band appeared on Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel, and became magazine cover stars, sending sales of The Silence… to Platinum status.
In November 2007, whilst in the midst of legal disputes, tragedy struck within the Hawthorne Heights family. Casey Calvert, the much loved guitarist and resident “screamer” of the band, lost his life while on tour, due to an accidental overdose of medications prescribed by his doctor and dentist, which proved to be lethal combination. The effects on the band were evident, both personally and musically.
On August 5 2008, Hawthorne Heights return with Fragile Future, a brand new album. Although the sound is still distinctly Hawthorne Heights, the music, as with the band, has understandably evolved.
“After spending the last 2 years in a deep dark place, we decided to try to find the bright lights again with Fragile Future,” noted singer J.T. Woodruff. “We, as a band, noticed that everyone has tremendous ups and downs, so we wanted this record to communicate that. We chose the title Fragile Future, because it sums up the current state of our band, as well as what is going on in the outside world. We must all make good choices to create a better situation in our lives.”
"With the loss of Casey, and no plans to replace him, we've had to make some obvious changes to our sound on this record,” added drummer Eron Bucciarelli. “Originally there were less screams planned for this record than the second one, but sadly we never got the chance to do even that. This forced us to take a creative approach to certain songs. We've beefed up the guitars in parts, added gang vocals, choirs and all sorts of effects to still capture some of the energy that Casey brought.”

Rescue Me
Hawthorne Heights Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The Midnight air will do you well
Believe
I miss your taste, I miss your smell
The past mistakes that brought you here
I'll break the fall for you my dear
I'll ask the nurse for bandages
And send me on my way
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Every other day
I sit and wait for the same bad news
Can you hear me say
I've got nothing left to lose
Someone please start making sense
And beg the lord for accidents
I've seen the worst case scenario
Slowly letting go
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
Rescue me
From everything
I just wanna live
I wish I could breathe
The lyrics to Hawthorne Heights' song Rescue Me reflect a sense of desperation and a longing for someone to come to the rescue. The lines "The Midnight air will do you well" and "Believe, I miss your taste, I miss your smell" indicate a desire to be comforted and reassured. The song seems to be about a person who feels overwhelmed by their circumstances, and is asking for someone to come and help them find a way out. The lyrics "I've got nothing left to lose" show how desperate they are to escape their situation.
The chorus of Rescue Me repeats the phrase "rescue me from everything" several times, emphasizing the need to be rescued. The line "I wish I could breathe" is especially poignant, suggesting that the person feels suffocated by their situation and is struggling to stay alive. The second verse further emphasizes the desperation of the situation, with the lines "Someone please start making sense" and "I've seen the worst case scenario slowly letting go". The lyrics paint a picture of someone who is barely holding on, and who needs help urgently.
Overall, the lyrics to Rescue Me express a sense of hopelessness and a desire to be rescued from a seemingly impossible situation. The repetition of the chorus reinforces this message, suggesting that the person is crying out for help and hoping that someone will answer their call.

@krysduhxp
this was my go-to song when i felt like being a worthless emo kid back in middle school-10th grade. its such a weird/relieving feeling listening to it years later. i owe these guys my life because this song kept me from ending all the good that was planned for my future.

Dude, I can safely say that your comment sums up my feelings about this song. Listening to this song and Ohio is for lovers, Saying Sorry, Niki fm and Decembers on the bus ride home after a full day of nothing but s**t. Who knew that this is what the future would hold? I'm glad I stayed for the ride :)
