Sweetheart, she sings, sings in the dark
Look at your face, look at my dress
Looks like we’re not here to impress
We’ll take the stairs, one two three steps at a time
Now that we’re here, all we gotta do is climb, climb
Deep in the lion’s den, we’re freaking out
So pick me up again, and spin me ‘round
Deep in the lion’s den, the secret’s out
We got our, got our sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
Sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
Tappin’ her shoes with polka dots
I like that bowtie, I like it a lot
Tappin’ my head, smashin’ the keys
Coins in the case, gold at your feet
We’ll take the stairs, one two three steps at a time
Now that we’re here, all we gotta do is climb, climb
So pick me up again, and spin me ‘round
Deep in the lion’s den, we’re freaking out
So pick me up again, and spin me ‘round
Deep in the lion’s den, the secret’s out
We got our, got our sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
Sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
(Won’t you pick me up, pick me up?)
(Won’t you pick me up, pick me up, spin me ‘round)
We got our, got our sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
So pick me up again, and spin me ‘round
Deep in the lion’s den, we’re freaking out
So pick me up again, and spin me ‘round
Deep in the lion’s den, the secret’s out
We got our, got our sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
Sneakers on, just blink and we’ll be gone
Just like a smoking gun, we’re gonna hit and run
Won’t you pick me up?
Won’t you pick me up?
Won’t you pick me up?
Won’t you pick me up?
(We’re gonna, gonna)
(Run)
In the song "Hit & Run" by Hayley Kiyoko, the lyrics paint a picture of a nighttime adventure with a mysterious partner. Mrs. Scotch is rocking at the bar and singing sweetly, while the singer and their companion are focused on each other rather than impressing anyone else. They take the stairs up to the lion's den, which creates a sense of excitement and danger. The chorus is a call to action, with the singers putting on their sneakers and disappearing like a smoking gun. They're on the move and ready for anything.
The lyrics suggest a sense of freedom and spontaneity, as well as a willingness to take risks. The lion's den is a metaphor for a place where danger lurks, but it's also an exciting place where adventure can be found. The reference to a smoking gun suggests that the singers are on the run from something, perhaps their boring or mundane lives. The repeated refrain of "pick me up" and "spin me around" suggest a desire for intimacy and excitement.
Overall, the lyrics of "Hit & Run" are playful, adventurous, and a little bit mysterious. It's a perfect song for anyone who wants to escape from their everyday life and experience something new and thrilling.
