Make a way for the queen
He's got the most spectacular wardrobe you've ever seen
So what if he bleaches his hair
And dresses are what he likes to wear
Who are you to say what he should do
People in glass houses don't throw stones, no, no, no
People in glass houses don't throw stones, no, no, no

And you say he's a fool
And you make this supposition cause you know he never went to school
So what if he can't do this two times two
He can do other things you can't do, I can't do, you can't do

People in glass houses don't throw stones, no, no, no
People in glass houses don't throw stones, no, no, no

Overall Meaning

The song "Glass Houses" by Hazel O'Conner speaks of accepting others and not judging them for their differences. The first verse introduces the character of the Queen who has a unique sense of style that includes bleached hair and a love for dresses. The tone of the verse is one that asks the listener to accept and appreciate the Queen's fashion choices despite their unconventional nature. The chorus, "People in glass houses don't throw stones, no, no, no," implies that the listener should not judge others because we all have our own flaws.

The second verse continues the theme of not judging others, focusing on a character who is assumed to be uneducated. The song challenges the listener's preconceived notions of intelligence and success, suggesting that people have different talents in life. The chorus is repeated after each verse, solidifying the idea that no one should criticize or hurl insults at others when we ourselves are not perfect beings.

43 years old and it still sends shivers down my spine. Music will never be this good again.

That's an unfortunate fact from this 42 year old. Look the same as everyone else, have a voice that can carry some mundane tune and you're famous! Providing you had botox at the age of 20 OBVIOUSLY!

@carlleavey

For over 40 years now this is still one of my favourites.

Also her band had the Blade Runner cyborg eyes before the movie did. Just pure genius. I was 16 when this song came out. The 80's were just brilliant for music of all types. My kids like this too.. so proud of their taste.

The eyes have it. Wonder if Ridley or his design folk saw this?

@deanrobertson5543

So far ahead of her time, and so scarily bloody accurate, what have we become?

@DELx999

Made to. Lyrics: "germs" then "submarine" (next).
