Headchange is a hard rock band from Columbus, Ohio. Established in February of 2004, Headchange is comprised of: Jonathan Ayala (vox/keys), Chris Martin (guitar/vox), Josh Sharp (bass/vox) and Brett Counts (drums). In a world where rock music has become extremely diluted, the diverse influences of its members have allowed Headchange to put their own spin on the genre.
Most often labeled as a hard rock outfit, Headchange uses elements native to metal, hardcore & progressive throughout their compositions as well. Their intricate blend of catchy melodies, infectious harmonies, and precise instrumentation, reflects the exemplary musicianship of each individual. The intensity of their stage presence is another reason why this band has remained a top draw in their town. Success came early for Headchange in November, 2004, when they were crowned champions of a prestigious Battle of the Bands competition; in which they triumphed over 30 other local bands.
After garnering tremendous fan support in Columbus and playing such notable venues as The Newport Music Hall, The Alrosa Villa, Little Brothers, Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, The Emerson Theater in Indianapolis, The Rock Nightclub in Minneapolis, and the Woodshock Festival, Headchange plans to continue the expansion of their fan base throughout the Midwest in 2007. With their most highly touted lineup to date, Headchange released their self-titled debut album on April 27, 2007, to a near-capacity crowd at CBR's in Columbus. Album sales from their live shows and the internet continue to climb, due to the tremendous response they have received from the disc.
Eclipse
Headchange Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The clock is ticking; an angel's fallen to the ground.
Can't find redemption; only in this love.
But how can you be so close and feel so far away tonight?
Although it's blinding, follow the light to get to me.
Meet me in the back of the sun.
Meet me in the back of the sun.
I swear I'll be.
(I swear I'll be waiting until we're back together.
Waiting until the end of forever).
My kisses are fading; fading from your cheek.
Now I'm holding on by a string.
Blackout.
Fallen.
Take me to the other side.
The candles are lit on the path we take tonight.
I can't find a way to carry on without you tonight.
The lyrics of Headchange's song Eclipse explore the theme of time and its impact on individuals' lives. The opening line, "Time is contagious; choking everyone," suggests that time is a force that affects everything and everyone, and it can feel suffocating. The clock is ticking, and the singer acknowledges that an angel has fallen in this time, perhaps suggesting that even heavenly beings are not immune to the power of time. The singer seems to be searching for redemption, but finds it only in love. However, there is a sense of longing and distance as he asks, "But how can you be so close and feel so far away tonight?"
Despite the difficulties and distance, the singer provides a glimmer of hope when he urges his lover to "follow the light" and "meet me in the back of the sun." It's a beautiful way of saying that even though things may seem hopeless and bleak, the possibility of reunification is always there if they follow the light of love. The singer is waiting on the other side and promises to continue waiting "until the end of forever."
The lyrics continue with the singer lamenting the fading kisses and holding on to love by a string. The words "Blackout" and "Fallen" may imply the end of a relationship or falling apart of oneself, but the singer seems to seek solace in the idea of a path lit by candles that they will embark on together. However, the song concludes with the singer declaring that he cannot find a way to carry on without his lover, underscoring the significance of human connection in a world that often distances individuals.
