Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Heart's song Go On Cry is a plea for someone to let out their emotions and not hold back their tears. The repetition of the phrase "Go on cry" emphasizes the importance of releasing those pent-up feelings. The use of the word "cry" is powerful, as it portrays vulnerability and raw emotion. The repeated urging to cry is a reminder that it's okay to not be okay, and that it's important to allow oneself to feel all the emotions that come with pain and heartbreak.

The song overall reminds listeners that crying is a natural and healthy reaction to intense emotions. The lyrics could be interpreted as comforting, as they encourage the expression of emotions which can prevent them from becoming too heavy to bear. The way the song is structured, with the verses emphasizing the importance of crying, and the chorus repeating the phrase "Go on cry," is simple but effective in driving the message home.

"Go On Cry"

Recorded in February 1977 .......... Kaye Smith Studios in Seattle, Washington
From the 'Little Queen' album ....... Released in April 1977

Written by > Ann Wilson, Roger Fisher and Nancy Wilson

Roger Fisher was working on this song from December 1976. An obvious
sample from 'Pink Floyd'.

A bluesy-trail that speeds up at {3:12} with a 'progressive-rock' section, and then
re-enters into the bluesy-trail at {4:20}.

Roger Fisher called this song........... 'Vegetable-Head Music'
> To listen to when you're stoned out of your mind.

I won this LP from radio station in 1977. 40 years later and it still gives me chills and joy. Ann Wilson was my first crush, still crushing.

This song makes me reflect when my 1st dog was found passed away. I cried like a baby when we buried her in 1989 as the late 80's was a time i was listening to music of the 70's too. their music reminds me of when my mom and dad were still together yet has a mystery of unseen meaning deep within personal for me and my early childhood. Memories linger on!!!

John Blodgett

Even after all these years, the opening still gives me chills
