Hero
Heather Dale Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You think if you set the price they'll turn me in
You think that when I'm up upon the pike you'll win
They'll say that I was fighting
For the spirit of the law
What will they say about you
When I'm gone

You murdered and you stole you mocked the home I gave
Though I'd prefer a happy end no man can cheat the grave
I know what they'll remember
In the words of every song
What will they say about you
When I'm gone

They'll say
We stared into the wind that tore away our breath
We left behind a message that can not be claimed by death
A hero lives forever
For the ones that carry on

What will they say about you
When I'm gone

Because annotations are no longer a thing, my lyric correction in the video is gone. The lyric says "the HOPE I gave", not "the hoMe I gave"

I liked how the images in this song respected not just knights, heroes and the military, but all the other shields who defend the innocent, God bless you for making this video.

anyone can mourn a hero, but only a hero can truly mourn a villain.

I just realized that the transition from myth to history starts right at the end with the instrumental outro right as the emotion of the song peaks! I love it!!

This is pure chaotic good, and I love it.

Wouldn’t a Chaotic Good care more about what is right than “the spirit of the law”? That implies that the singer would normally be fine with the law, save for current corruption- which is more Neutral Good. Although, I am told that the song is inspired by Robinhood, who is generally interpreted as Chaotic Good.

Jessica Caron

I think it's lawful good - the hero here is so pure that no one would ever betray them, they have no enemies among the forces of good!

Alexis Minary

Rune Anonymous lawful good

Danny Beane

Gonna disagree there with those saying it's lawful good. Our current group, who calls itself the Chaos Brigade, has been mocked as the Lawful Legion as we've allied with a kingdom for months thwarting efforts to disrupt and ruin it. I say that our Chaos is not that of corruption and decay, it's the fire of rebellion against all tyrants, it's the rally cry of all peoples who long for freedom from oppression and fear, it's the spark of chaos that gives us our personhood: and we'll do everything to defend that right of life.

ADT1995

@Danny Beane I would call that lawful good.

Lawful good to me means you hold the ruler to protect the innocent as well. It doesn't mean that you blindly follow the law regardless of whether it helps or hurts others (that's lawful neutral, although lawful can apply to a code as well, not the actual law, which is part of why I say that deposing a tyrant for abuse of power does fit well with lawful good (and neutral good, and chaotic good).

For the song itself, it could be any non evil alignment except LN
