Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Heatwave's song "Party Poops" are an invitation to dance and celebrate, with a message directed to people who might be hesitant to join the fun. The song starts with a question: "Are you set to sweat can you party?" and the answer is clear: "we can make you prove it". The idea is to urge people to get into the groove and not waste time "jivin'" or "hiding", because the "boogie is the rulin'". The use of "we" and "you" throughout the song creates a sense of togetherness, and the repetition of "don't cha party poop" reinforces the message that everyone should join in and enjoy themselves.

The chorus is catchy and easy to sing along, which makes it even more effective in encouraging people to dance. It starts with a negative statement ("don't you be no party poop"), followed by a positive one ("we want to see ya'll party poops do the do now") and finishes with a playful repetition of "don't cha party poop". The verses follow a similar structure, with a mixture of positive and negative statements that aim to persuade the listener to get up and move. The use of slang and colloquial language ("ah", "nuthin'", "ya'll") gives the song a more informal and friendly tone.

Overall, "Party Poops" is a feel-good song that celebrates the joy of dancing and encourages people to join in. The use of repetition, rhymes, and a catchy melody make it memorable and effective in getting the message across.

This is probably my real favorite by Heatwave. The musicianship here is incredible.

Heatwave has to be possibly one of the first international funk groups. Johnnie wilder formed this group in Germany when he was still in the army. He stayed over there after he got out, and from there heatwave took off. Love this joint and love heatwave!!

I remember back in the 90s me and my boss traveled to Albany, Georgia listening to a Heatwave cassette tape and just this past weekend Friday night me and my son took a drive to Knoxville and on XM 50 they were playing all the Old School and here comes Party Poop this song, the group brought back so many memories. Still sounds amazing

I remember when this album was released. My sister was working at Winchell's Donuts and she tended to shake her big booty when any Heatwave song came on. I really dug the funk guitar and the fact Heatwave have a tight ass groove. DYNOMYTE!

My sophomore year in college, I lost my roomie to a brain tumor. We were both football players. "Central Heating" was his favorite album!Β  Miss you, Bro! R.I.P.

I love listening to these old school songs but when I really think about it, it hurts so bad because I have lost several family and friends who enjoyed this as well as I.
