1. A Heavy Metal group… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two groups with this name.
1. A Heavy Metal group composed of current and former members of Black Sabbath.
2. An electronic group from Contraseña Records who have released the Alive & Kicking (Single).
Heaven and Hell were a music collaboration featuring current Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with former members Ronnie James Dio (RIP) and Vinny Appice. Founding member Iommi decided to name the group Heaven and Hell as the original lineup of Black Sabbath (featuring Butler, Iommi, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne) is still active but on hiatus. [Please note: Tony Iommi owns all rights to the name "Black Sabbath" and as such can do with it as he sees fit. Heaven & Hell came into existence due to the band not wanting to play songs such as Iron Man and Paranoid, which would be expected of them if they toured as Black Sabbath. It has nothing to do with Ozzy Osbourne saying they couldn't use the Sabbath name.] Ward was originally part of the Heaven and Hell line-up, but it was announced on the fan-run Black Sabbath website that he was standing aside for Appice.
The possibility of a reunion of the lineup which created the Black Sabbath album Heaven and Hell in 1980 was first announced on the Spanish site Rafabasa on September 28, 2006; however with Appice in place of Ward the line-up is now that which recorded the 1981 album Mob Rules. Dio had previously announced that he and Iommi had written a new track for a proposed Black Sabbath box set consisting of music from the two periods in which he was present in the band. This set, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years, is a single-CD release featuring three new tracks, 'Shadow Of The Wind', 'The Devil Cried' and 'Ear In The Wall'.
The reunion was officially confirmed by an announcement on Tony Iommi's official website.
None of the new tracks feature keyboards but Scott Warren of Dio is the project's touring keyboardist.
The group did a world tour in 2007, and released a live CD/DVD recorded in New York called Live From Radio City Music Hall
Heaven & Hell's first full-length studio album is called The Devil You Know and was released by Rhino on April 28, 2009. The band embark on another world tour beginning in May 2009.
The band had several festival dates lined up for 2010 despite singer Ronnie James Dio's diagnosis with stomach cancer in December 2009. All of these dates were cancelled in April 2010 due to Dio's ill health, although it was not apparent whether he was suffering from a setback or just hadn't recovered as quickly as everyone had hoped. However, on 16th May 2010 an official announcement from his wife and manager, Wendy Dio, shocked music fans the world over announcing her husband's death from stomach cancer. He was 67 years old.

Can't remember when we came so close to love before
Hold on, good things never last
Nothing's in the past, it always seems to come again
Again and again and again
Cry out to legions of the brave
Time again to save us from the jackals of the street
Captain's at the helm, sail across the sea of lights
Circles and rings, dragons and kings
Weaving a charm and a spell
Blessed by the night, holy and bright
Called by the toll of the bell
Bloodied angels fast descending
Moving on a never-bending light
Phantom figures free forever
Out of shadows, shining ever-bright
Neon Knights

Cry out to legions of the brave
Time again to save us from the jackals of the street
Ride out, protectors of the realm
Capatin's at the helm, sail across the sea of lights
Again and again, again and again and again

The lyrics to Heaven & Hell's Neon Knights are filled with imagery and metaphorical language that paint a vivid picture of a world full of danger and uncertainty. The opening lines suggest that the singer has experienced love before but has never been able to hold onto it for very long. He urges the listeners to hold on tight to what they have as good things never last. The lyrics then shift to a more epic tone, as the legions of the brave are called upon to save the world from the "jackals of the street".
The middle section of the song contains the most striking imagery, as the singer describes circles and rings, dragons and kings, and a charm and a spell being woven. The language here is evocative of medieval times and suggests that this world may not exist in a present-day context. The sense of danger and darkness is heightened by the mention of "bloodied angels" fast descending and "phantom figures" emerging from the shadows. The chorus then comes back in to remind us of the title: Neon Knights, a phrase that fits well with the theme of a world full of lights and darkness.
The song seems to be about the struggle between light and darkness, good and evil, and the constant battle to maintain balance in the world. The imagery suggests a world that combines elements of ancient mythology and contemporary urban culture. The message is ultimately one of hope, that in spite of the forces of darkness there are always protectors of the realm who will stand up to defend what is good and right.

Absolutely no problem here, chinacat. RJD is gone but will never be forgotten. I have Heaven & Hell live at Radio City Music Hall on CD, and anyone else who has a copy of that particular performance knows that Dio did a great job. The man had balls and guts.

Cancer survivor here too. Metastatic Thyroid cancer. Got my 3 year ultrasound next week. I also went sudden cardiac arrest while I was partially spinally decapitated. See my surgeries video. 6 major surgeries the past 4 years. Got a pacemaker now and also my neck fused c3-c7 front and back. A year after I got the front done which was right after Thyroidectomy I got my front plate taken out due to it loosening and I got more cadaver bone added. Then 6 months later my appendix burst. The 6 months after that I fell due to my bad heart and snapped my fusion and had to get the backside fused. Had to have my chin sewed shut also. And right before my pacemaker 4 years when I went sudden cardiac arrest I fell backward and broke the back of my head open and got that stapled shut. ........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAp1b5JR3C4

With no disrespect to Ozzy, I think Ronnie kicked his ass!!!

Hvy ChvyG20::
I’d believe if Ozzy could write his own songs but can’t even if his life depends on it 😉 Ozzy like most solo artists steals other peoples work then he and his wife profit from it.

@Hvy Chvy G20 Yeah, if he'd only done a reality tv show, or at least bit the heads off some doves and bats /s

@Adam Lowhigh people give ozzys singing a lot of flack, while I do agree he has limited range he is still a very good singer. I recommend you listen to the planet caravan isolated vocal track, meglomania and hand of doom. These songs really show how good ozzy is vocally. That being said, dio is a better vocalist.
I honestly love them both, I think they both bring different things to sabbath.
