Following the release of their seventh studio album Cageless (2017) and its accompanying tour, current members of Hedley faced accusations of sexual misconduct with young women over the course of their career. After Hoggard faced additional accusations of sexual assault by two women, the group confirmed they would enter an indefinite hiatus.
On July 23, 2018, Hoggard was charged with one count of Sexual Interference and two counts of Sexual Assault Causing Bodily Harm. On June 5, 2022, Hoggard was convicted of sexually assaulting the Ottawa woman.
On November 8, 2018, former drummer of the band Chris Crippin spoke out against Hoggard's behaviour during his time with the band. Crippin stated he was routinely called a "f*ggot" and was told to "shut the fuck up" when he tried to speak out. In a separate interview in July 2019, Crippin said that Hoggard was "extremely rude" and it wasn't behaviour he wanted to be around.
On October 20, 2022, Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard was sentenced to 5 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting an Ottawa woman.

On vacation
Bisexual in a metro station
I don't understand a single word you're saying
Ain't complaining what you saying
I'll go down on one knee if I have to
Just to have you but I don't have to
What's your favorite food? What's your daddy do?
Allez-vous? Allez-allez-vous? Accent got me all like
Allez-vous? Allez-allez-vous? Accent got me all like
Oh! Got me praying
I said baby I wanna get lost in translation
Oh! Got me praying
Said baby I wanna get lost in translation
Make my heart stop call the coroner
Mixing Coca Cola drinks like a foreigner
She's not a local girl all these boys boring her?
I don't blame 'em though ain't no ignoring her
International baby it's a frenzy
Looking trendy Gucci Fendi
Make a dirty movie happy happy ending
No comprendi be my girfriendy
Allez-vous? Allez-allez-vous? Accent got me all like
Allez-vous? Allez-allez-vous? Accent got me all like
Oh! Got me praying
Said baby I wanna get lost in translation
Oh! Got me praying (oui j'aime filles aussi - non merci)
I said baby I wanna get lost in translation (oui j'aime filles aussi - non merci)
La la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la
Got a booty like a South American maybe you from Paris
Love the way you talk baby don't be embarrassed
Clap clap clap it don't need interpretation woo-oh
Oh lord yeah
Oh! Got me praying
I said baby I wanna get lost in translation
Oh! Got me praying
Said baby I wanna get lost in translation
I wanna get lost in translation
Oh! Got me praying (oui J'aime filles aussi - non merci)
I said baby I wanna get lost in translation (oui j'aime filles aussi - non merci)
The song "Lost in Translation" by Hedley is a catchy, upbeat track that explores the challenges of communication in a romantic relationship. The lyrics are playful, with the singer expressing his desire for a woman who he can't understand, but finds incredibly attractive. The first verse sets the stage with the singer asking where the woman is from and commenting on her bisexuality. He admits that he doesn't understand what she's saying, but he's not complaining - in fact, he's willing to do whatever it takes to win her over, including learning a new language.
The chorus repeats the desire to get "lost in translation" with the woman, indicating a desire for intimacy and connection that transcends language barriers. The second verse describes the woman as a worldly and glamorous figure, and the singer laments that other men are boring her. He feels drawn to her exoticism and the challenge of understanding her, believing that he can offer something different and exciting in return. The song ends with a playful repetition of the chorus and a call to "clap clap clap it" without needing interpretation, emphasizing the physical connection that can exist despite a lack of shared language.
