1) Helix (formerly known as The Helix Field Band) is a Canadian hard rock and heavy metal band. They formed in 1974, and are best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup was formed by drummer Bruce Arnold, and consisted of lead vocalist Brian Vollmer, guitarists Ron Watson and Rick "Minstrel" Trembley, keyboardist Don Simmons, and bassist Keith "Bert" Zurbrigg. However, their most well known lineup, and the one that recorded "Rock You", was the 1980s version of the band: Vollmer on vocals, accompanied by guitarists Brent "The Doctor" Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Daryl Gray, and drummer Greg "Fritz" Hinz. The history of the band has been marked by many lineup changes, with Vollmer being the sole constant member and only remaining member of the original lineup. Although Hackman was killed in a tour bus accident in 1992, the surviving members of the 1980s lineup reunited in 2009 for an album and have continued to tour since 2011. Watson died in 2019. Simmons died in 2021.

Done with feeling down and blue
But here comes that heartache once again
Easy come
It's so easy to fall in love
Easy go
It's so easy to break a heart
But mine it just comes apart
What's it take to
Make you
Breakdown
Breakdown these walls around your heart
Breakdown
Before I fall apart
Breakdown
Can't you see what you're doing to me
Breakdown
Before I fall apart
Breakdown
Something I remember
Reminded me of you
Like that cold day in December
Your memory it haunts me still
Easy come
It's so easy to fall in love
Easy go
It's so easy to break a heart
Your life goes on
As for me I just play the part
What's it take to
Make you
Breakdown
Breakdown these walls around your heart
Breakdown
Before I fall apart
Breakdown
Breakdown you got me on my knees
Breakdown
How can I make you see that
I don't wanna be loved
By nobody but you
I don't wanna be touched
By nobody but you
How can I take no for an answer
What's it take to
Make you
Breakdown
Tell me
What's it take to
Make you
Breakdown
Breakdown these walls around your heart
Breakdown
Before I fall apart
Breakdown
Can't you see what you're doing to me
Breakdown
Before I fall apart
Breakdown
Breakdown, breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown, breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown, breakdown
Breakdown
Breakdown, breakdown
Before I fall apart
In "Breakdown," Helix explores the pain and frustration of an unrequited love. The lyrics express the singer's sense of resignation and helplessness as they find themselves once again falling victim to heartbreak. The lines "Easy come, it's so easy to fall in love. Easy go, it's so easy to break a heart" imply that the singer is aware of the risks of falling in love, but cannot help themselves from doing so. Despite knowing that their love is unrequited, they cannot help but still long for the object of their affection, as evidenced by the lines "I don't wanna be loved by nobody but you."
The chorus of the song, "Breakdown these walls around your heart. Before I fall apart," further underscores the singer's sense of desperation. They feel as though they are at the mercy of their love interest and cannot bear the thought of being left alone once again. The lines "What's it take to make you breakdown?" express their desire to see their love interest reciprocate their feelings in some way, even if it means showing vulnerability.
Overall, "Breakdown" is a poignant exploration of the frustration and helplessness that can come with unrequited love. It conveys a sense of longing and desperation that many listeners can relate to, making it a powerful and emotionally resonant song.
