In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar. In 2006, Hella's line-up was expanded to include Hill's cousin, Josh Hill (guitar), Spencer's Advantage bandmate Carson McWhirter (bass) and Aaron Ross (Vocals).
Since 2009, Hella's lineup is back to the original two-piece of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim, and in August of 2011 they released their latest album, Tripper, on Sargent House.

Hella Lyrics

There's no six
There's no six
There's no six
There's no
666 in
outer space
The lyrics to Hella's song "2012 And Countless" may not make immediate sense upon first listen, but upon further interpretation, there seems to be a message about the futility of seeking answers in the supernatural or otherworldly. The repeated refrain of "There's no six" could be a reference to the idea of the number 666 being associated with evil or the devil, and the statement "There's no 666 in outer space" could be suggesting that we continue to search for meaning and answers beyond our world, but ultimately find nothing.
The line "2012 and countless" also adds to the theme of searching for answers, as many believed that the world would end in 2012 according to the Mayan calendar. However, the addition of "and countless" implies that we constantly search for a meaning or an end, but they may not exist. The use of chaotic and unconventional instrumentation in the song also reinforces this idea, as the music seems to be searching for structure but ultimately devolves into disarray.

Yeah, Tera Melos, Marnie Stern, Fantomas, Tomahawk, that kind of stuff. Hell, Marnie Stern is playing on this album with Aaron, Zach, Spencer and a few others. Also, check out The Mars Volta.

@Justin Widle Zach even got his cousin onto this album. I guess it's because he was in Zach's first band.
