In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar. In 2006, Hella's line-up was expanded to include Hill's cousin, Josh Hill (guitar), Spencer's Advantage bandmate Carson McWhirter (bass) and Aaron Ross (Vocals).
Since 2009, Hella's lineup is back to the original two-piece of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim, and in August of 2011 they released their latest album, Tripper, on Sargent House.
Anarchists Just Wanna Have Fun
Hella Lyrics

I just wanted you to know
That people places names and faces
Are dying in the skies before they're born
And you can't turn those feelings off
Even though you can make them stop
It was told in times that came before
That someone with less would give you more
Or else open the doors
And the people in line will be returned to the floor
Eyes will shed there (sic) spider webs
And show you what you were here for
The Satanists have all grown bored
They broke their hands on heaven's door
Eyes did shed their spider webs
And showed us what we had become
Anarchists just wanna have fun
Queens will come and kings will go
People worship who they know
Imagery is the killer of all kingdoms
Ours is built on flesh and bone
Liars plant their seeds in ground
Let us plant in known towns
It was told in times that came before
That you would see that less is more
Or else open the doors
And the people in line will be returned to the floor
Eyes will shed there (sic) spider webs
And show you what you were here for
The satanists have all grown bored
They broke their hands on heaven's door
Eyes did shed their spider webs
And showed us what we had become
Anarchists just wanna have fun
When you felt your baby's last breath
You knew there's no life after death
Because death no longer exists
Your existence was merely a test
Anarchists just wanna have fun
The song's lyrics reflect the theme of societal decay and disintegration. The opening lines serve as a warning of the fleeting and transient nature of life, where things and people come and go, and ultimately meet the same fate of death. The song talks about the struggle of dealing with these intense feelings and emotions, that one could not just shake off. Even though one could try to shut down their emotions, they could never fully eliminate them.
The song also talks about the idea of abundance coming from scarcity, where those with less have more to offer. This notion is discussed as an alternative path to opening the doors and letting those in line return to the floor. The lyrics "the Satanists have all grown bored, they broke their hands on heaven's door" suggest that the organized power structures in society have become uninterested and ineffective, causing the disillusionment of the masses.
The chorus, "anarchists just wanna have fun," may appear to be a nod to the popular Cyndi Lauper song. However, it can be viewed as a sarcastic statement on how the people, particularly the youth, react to the decaying society around them. They are not necessarily advocating for anarchism, but they have grown tired of the status quo and the empty promises of the old guard. The people want to have fun and live freely, without the limitations imposed on them by the existing structures.

I'm epileptic and I love Hella- feel them in my Aura's!
@Thelaofkazi
Probably the best song from the album, I just fucking love it. I feel like the entire album is underrated. People keep saying that Hella was toned down with vocals added, this song is an example that Hella kicks ass on this album.
@rickdick2683
a decade and a half later and I still feel exactly the same about this album. Terribly underrated. Blows my mind that more people haven’t been turned on to this music with Zach’s prolific career post-hella career which is plentiful and incredible but I know the eleven or so years of hella are gonna keep my ears ringing for the rest of my life.

Warning: NOT for persons with seizures. lol Man, love the music and the vid!

As long as idiots and villains exist, anarchy will never work.
@Graeberwave
That's the point. Anarchy is no work. A dozen years later and I bet you still don't know what you're talking about, but that doesn't stop you from comment huh. Sad.
