Better Off Dead
Hellion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've been out the whole night long
Putting on a show
I'm waiting alone
You haven't come home
My head is gonna blow
It's been hours since you've been gone
But you're never satisfied
I know where you were last night
I know that you lied

You'd better learn
But you don't even hear one word I've said
You'd better learn or you'll find out
That you'd be better off dead

Better off dead
Don't you see
You ain't fooling me
Better off dead
Better off dead
If you mess around with me
You'd be better off dead

I think you should know by now
But you're never satisfied
I know where you were last night
I know that you lied
Some things never seem to change
You alway leave a clue
See the magick disappear
What are you gonna do

You'd better learn
But you don't even hear one word I've said
You'd better learn or you'll find out
That you'd be better off dead

Better off dead
Don't you see
You ain't fooling me
Better off dead
Better off dead
If you mess around with me
You'd be better off dead

Better off dead
You ain't fooling me
Better off dead
Better off dead
If you mess around with me

Better off, better of dead
Don't mess with me

If you mess around with me
You'd be better off dead

I first heard Hellion when I was about 14. It was a a club and my brother (RIP) got me in. When I was there my brother introduced me to this small man and told me it was the greatest singer that ever lived and that the girl in the band that night was the best female metal singer. The man my brother introduced me to was Ronnie James Dio and the singer was Ann Boleyn.

@countveles

Chet Thompson is a fucking beast. He had all, the tone, the skills, the might.

Hell yea

@vinaymulukutla358

This era of epic female fronted heavy metal was absolutely magnificent with the likes of Warlock, Chastain, Sentinel Beast, Bitch and of course Hellion. It's timeless and still rages today.

@luperodriguez6015

Ann Boleyn used to play this same song in another band before Hellion. My friend used to have a video!

@drewwilson3538

The Powergod tribute is awesome. The singer nails Boleyn's vocals.

That's where I first heard this song. Their take was epic. Then I hunted this down.
