Kids of the Century
Helloween Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We poison our hearts
We poison our seas
We burn down the paradise

We're stoppin' good waves
We're losin' our trees
The future looks bright ahead
I don't wonder we'll go under in this river of lies oh oh oh

We're lost in this time we create so fine
The future we already fear
Seems like no way out, seems like there's no doubt
The future looks bright ahead

We're the kids of the century we're lost in our games
No time for the memories we look in the haze
We're the kids of the century it wasn't our fault
Everything's done mum, we fall
Let's keep on crying
But sometimes I don't want to fall
I don't want to fall sometimes I don't want to fall

Every time when you look around things will smile at you
Every time when you turn around you smell the truth
But you run away from the lies you can't say
Don't run away from the lies you can't say

We're the kids of the century we're lost in our games
No time for the memories we look in the haze
We're the kids of the century it wasn't our fault
Everything's done mum, we fall

We're the kids of the century we're lost in our games
No time for the memories we look in the haze
We're the kids of the century it wasn't our fault
Everything's done mum, we fall
Let's keep on crying
But sometimes I don't want to fall

I don't want to fall sometimes I don't want to fall
No, I don't want to fall sometimes I don't want to fall

Overall Meaning

"2 Kids of the Century" by Helloween is a song about the destruction that human beings bring upon the planet and how we must take responsibility for our actions. The opening lines of the song, "We poison our hearts, we poison our seas, we burn down the paradise," are a poignant reminder of how we have damaged the earth through our own negligence. The song further stresses that the consequences of our actions can be dire, as we are destroying the very resources that we rely on to survive.

The song's chorus, "We're the kids of the century, we're lost in our games, no time for the memories, we look in the haze," further highlights how we have become so consumed with technology and our own desires that we are unable to truly appreciate the beauty of the world. The phrase "we're lost in our games" shows that we have become captivated with technological advancements and materialistic gains, forgetting about the real world and the natural environment that surrounds us.

The song's bridge, "But you run away from the lies you can't say, don't run away from the lies you can't say," is a call to action for individuals to stop ignoring the truth about the state of the planet and the devastating impact that our actions have on it. The song ends with the line, "Sometimes I don't want to fall," which could be interpreted as a desire to remain ignorant and avoid taking responsibility for the damage that has been done.

Overall, "2 Kids of the Century" urges listeners to take responsibility for the state of the planet and take action to reverse the damage before it's too late.

Great song! Back in the day people hated this album, saying that it was too soft and strange. I wonder what the same people think about the current Helloween releases...As far as I'm concerned this album was great and songs like this, The Chance and Someones Crying are some of the best the band even put out.

I like everything Helloween recorded. From the rough, super-fast Walls, through more melodic things like Keepers I/II, both Pink Bubbles and Chameleon, and entire Deris era, where they got really "heavy". Never cared who sings/plays as long as I like it.

windy yuniansyah

This is one of their best...an energic song....

george george

Truly one of the best heavy metal songs ever exist
