Revelation
Helloween Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Now we chase the end of time
Afraid what we will find
Once again since Jesus Christ
The stars look down on mankind

Revelation
Overcome creation
False illusions
Fade and die
Whatever we awaited
Charity and hatred
Whatever we awaited
Will arise
It's revelation
Revelation

Power and prosperity
It won't be like before
Name, rank and authority
Not counting anymore

Revelation
Overcome creation
False illusions
Fade and die
Whatever we awaited
Charity and hatred
Whatever we awaited
Will arise
It's revelation
Revelation

Bemoan your words
Bemoan your deeds
Repent your thoughts of lies
Attain your sword
Attain your shield
Defend the sense of life
Bemoan your hate
Repent your greed
Improve your rotten seed

Pray for the child
Though born just by a fraud and a whore
Pray for the child
Who won't know what it's crying for

Revelation
Overcome creation
False illusions
Fade and die
Whatever we awaited
Charity and hatred
Whatever we awaited
Will arise

Overall Meaning

The song "Revelation" by Helloween echoes themes of the end of time, humanity's fear of the unknown, and the idea of a divine judgement day. The opening lines "Now we chase the end of time, Afraid what we will find" suggests that mankind's obsession with unraveling the mysteries of the world and predicting what the future holds is futile, as it leads to fear and uncertainty. The song then references Jesus Christ, indicating that this isn't the first time mankind has faced such fears, and that the stars have always watched over humanity, seemingly indifferent to its struggles.

The chorus emphasizes the idea of a "Revelation," suggesting that one day, the ultimate truth about existence will be revealed, and all false illusions will be stripped away. The lyrics "Whatever we awaited, Charity and hatred, Will arise" suggests that all our actions will have consequences and will lead to either love or hate. The following verse highlights that even the rich and the powerful will not be able to escape this judgment, that "Name, rank, and authority are not counting anymore."

The final verse urges people to reflect on their actions and seek redemption before it is too late. The lines "Bemoan your words, Bemoan your deeds, Repent your thoughts of lies" emphasizes the importance of owning up to one's mistakes and seeking to rectify them. The inclusion of a reference to a "child" born of a "fraud and a whore" highlights the idea of the innocent suffering for the sins of others. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, "It's revelation, Revelation," reiterating that the truth about existence will one day be revealed.

Uli Kusch composed this song… great job.

@vnegentsov

Actually all songs in this album that are credited to Uli Kusch are Kusch + Grapow. But due to the scancals between Weikath and Grapow growing ... The album is almost recorded without Grapow seeing Weikath using playback and mixing. A technique that was not common these years (1997-1998). Now in the Covid days it's a common practice but then it was not.
