The discography of Helmet boasts eight studio albums and two compilation albums. Following their initial release, "Strap It On" (1990), through Amphetamine Reptile, Helmet inked a deal with Interscope Records, leading to three albums under the label, notably the highly successful "Meantime" (1992). While their subsequent works, "Betty" (1994) and "Aftertaste" (1997), achieved considerable success, they fell short of matching the critical and popular acclaim garnered by "Meantime." After disbanding in 1998, Helmet regrouped in 2004 and has since presented four additional albums: "Size Matters" (2004), "Monochrome" (2006), "Seeing Eye Dog" (2010), and "Dead to the World" (2016). Currently, the band is actively engaged in the creation of their ninth studio album.

Admire myself
Pass offers of great sex
No threat, the evil goes, gone
Pig, fuck your eyes wide
Once lead, gone shy
Not a thing in common
The lyrics of "Repetition" by Helmet depict a person who is self-absorbed and narcissistic, spending their time admiring their own reflection and turning down offers of sex because they do not see it as a threat. The lyrics also detail frustration with a former lover who has changed and describes them as having nothing in common, with the added insult that they "look just like a boy." The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the cyclical nature of these kinds of toxic relationships and patterns of behavior.
The song is a commentary on the themes of self-absorption and repetition, and how they can lead to destructive relationships and a lack of personal growth. It also touches on themes of gender identity and expression, with the derogatory remark about the former lover's appearance blurring the traditional lines of gendered presentation.
