The discography of Helmet boasts eight studio albums and two compilation albums. Following their initial release, "Strap It On" (1990), through Amphetamine Reptile, Helmet inked a deal with Interscope Records, leading to three albums under the label, notably the highly successful "Meantime" (1992). While their subsequent works, "Betty" (1994) and "Aftertaste" (1997), achieved considerable success, they fell short of matching the critical and popular acclaim garnered by "Meantime." After disbanding in 1998, Helmet regrouped in 2004 and has since presented four additional albums: "Size Matters" (2004), "Monochrome" (2006), "Seeing Eye Dog" (2010), and "Dead to the World" (2016). Currently, the band is actively engaged in the creation of their ninth studio album.

I could certain lose it
Reach out
Show you help
Look down and take a chance
Feel like I've gone
Too far the reason comes
Talk to hear
Wonder how it came out wrong
One saves
Gone right
One begs
Lost sight
The lyrics of the song Role Model by the band Helmet speaks of the internal struggle of an individual who is grappling with their role in society while also dealing with their own personal demons. The first verse asks the listener to assume the singer's stance, who is not sure if they are in control of their emotions or not. They also ask their listener to reach out and help them while they struggle to take a chance and confront their fears. The second verse explains that the singer feels trapped, torn between what they believe is right and what their instincts are telling them to do. They want to know why the situation has gone so wrong and they find themselves begging for help.
The chorus of the song is both hopeful and tragic at the same time. It speaks of how one person succeeds while another fails, highlighting the contrast between success and failure as these two things cannot exist without each other. The lyrics of the song suggest a feeling of alienation and a search for perfection that is ultimately unattainable. In conclusion, the song Role Model is about introspective self-discovery, finding a balance between doing what is right and following one's gut, and the struggle to attain perfection.
