He started having lessons at the age of 4. Being 6 he played at the cabaret Faun in Berlin and had his first radio broadcast five years later. In the 1950s he was considered to be one of the best jazz violinists of Europe. He played together with many other famous artists, including Yehudi Menuhin and had his own TV show from 1968 to 1973. He died in 2002 in Tessin, Switzerland.

Helmut Zacharias plays with soul. his phrasing is very elegant and charming. his vibrato is very special! some very interesting artist! although he plays mostly light music, you can realisze he's one of the very great violinists

Quando Zacharias abbandono' la musica classica per il jazz, lo swing e la musica leggera poi, inseri' nella sua musica il clavicembalo, strumento tipicamente classico che pero' con i suoi arrangiamenti e' diventato un componente principale dell'orchestra. Questa esecuzione e' bellissima anche se differisce dalla prima incisa il 19.12.1941 i cui solisti eranno:
