Salvador recorded several songs written with Boris Vian with Quincy Jones as arranger.
In the 60's Salvador was the television host of several popular TV variety shows on French TV.
Henri Salvador and his song "Dans mon île" (1957) is said to have unwittingly inspired bossa nova in Brazil, as Carlos Tom Jobim would have exclaimed on hearing the song "This is what you have to do! Slow down the tempo of samba, add a good melody and top it with beautiful chords!"
Caetano Veloso, a renowned brasilian composer and singer, made a direct reference at Salvador in his song "Reconvexo" : "quem não sentiu o swing de Heri Salvador ?" (who hasn't felt the swing of Henri Salvador ?)
In (1964) Henri Salvador scored a popular French hit with "Zorro est arrivé" (which was inspired by the English song "Along Came Jones"). His song "Mais non, mais non" (1969) inspired Jim Henson' song Mahna Mahna. These kind of comedy songs made him well known in France. He is also famous for his good nature and rich, catchy laugh, which is a standalone feature in many of his humoristic songs.
He has a brother, André, and a sister Alice. He became a musician and comedian. Later he uncovered new French talents Keren Ann and Art Mengo.

Voletait, voletait gaiement
On triomphe toujours
On triomphe toujours
On triomphe toujours.
In Henri Salvador's song "L'abeille et le papillon," the lyrics tell a story of a bee and a caterpillar. The bee flies merrily around a blooming heather when she encounters a caterpillar crying at the foot of the heather, watching the bee fly in the sky with her honey. The caterpillar declares that she loves the bee, but the bee, oblivious to the caterpillar's affection, continues to fly. As the days pass, the caterpillar continues to weep, and the bee continues to fly happily through the sky. Eventually, the caterpillar falls asleep, and when she awakens, she transforms into a butterfly in the sunlight. Meanwhile, the bee has given her heart to a butterfly on a blooming heather while crickets sing. In the end, the lyrics suggest that love always prevails.
The story of the bee and the caterpillar in "L'abeille et le papillon" carries a simple but profound message. The lyrics emphasise the importance of love, and how it can lead to triumph. The song tells its listeners that even if at times, love may seem unrequited, it has the power to transform one's life completely. The joyous flute and cheerful melody of the song accompany the lyrics, sounding as bright and as hopeful as the story conveyed.

Une abeille un jour de printemps
One bee on a spring day
Voletait, voletait gaiement
Fluttered, fluttered joyfully
Sur la rose bruy?re en fleur
On the flowering heather rose
Dont si douce est l'odeur
Whose scent is so sweet
Au pied de la bruy?re en fleur
At the foot of the flowering heather rose
Une pauvre chenille en pleur
A poor crying caterpillar
Regardait voler dans le ciel
Watched flying in the sky
La petite et son miel
The small one with her honey
Et la pauvre chenille en sanglots
And the poor caterpillar in tears
Lui disait "Je vous aime"
Told her "I love you"
Mais l'abeille l?-haut, tout l?-haut
But the bee up there, so high
N'entendait pas un mot
Could not hear a word
Cependant que les jours passaient
While the days passed
La chenille toujours pleurait
The caterpillar always cried

Vint ?veiller un papillon
Came to wake up a butterfly

Notre abeille a donn? son c?ur
Our bee gave her heart

To the little butterfly
Par les bois, les champs et les jardins
Through woods, fields, and gardens
Se fr?lant de leurs ailes
Brushing with their wings
Ils butinent la rose et le thym
They nectar on the rose and thyme
Dans l'air frais du matin
In the cool morning air
