This is where the police need to take their trainees out of police college for a while and get some on the job training. They pretty much know what sort of shops they are hitting now so have them wait inside to ambush them. Four young teenage girls, 12 - 14, broke into a supermarket in my city and stole a few things along with some 0% alcohol wine. Either they thought it's wrong to drink the real stuff under age or they fuked up.

There's plenty of investment in education, study grants, overseas exchange students program, etc, what Nz lacks is severe penalties for these crimes.. These keep happening because they know all they will get is at least a home detention, or community service.. They need increase the penalties and throw in some jail time.. The harsher the consequences, the more thinking twice will be happening inside their heads.
Parents should be blamed for this too.

@anon. yea I do. Do you really think that the parents know they did this or encouraged it? Nicotine is one of the most highly addictive drugs, they are puffing like they are seasoned smokers why else would they go to such great lengths to do this....I saw a bunch of school kids at bus stop sharing a vape... talking about how they had been fiending. Wtf doubt their parents knew...

Their parents are busy with drugs, alcohol or in jail or with other ‘partners’. These kids might as well have no parents. Theres dar too many such highly dysfunctional ‘families’ in nz.

CCTV doesn't help when they are wearing hoods and covered faces, the cars are stolen probably from residential probably in view of a ring camera doorbell or residential cctv system still hoods and covered faces.

You can buy cameras all you like but if you don't have deadlocks on your doors, something blocking the entrance or exit of the premises and a monitored alarm system then you just get to sit and watch it unfold.

This calls for smarter security methods.
