We Choose
Her Lyrics

We choose
The way we'll be remembered
No you
Won't smoke me to embers

We choose
You're not the one guiding
No you
Can't be denying

I think, I think we could do anything
Our wings are broke
But we'll keep on gliding
I think, I think we could do anything
Our wings are broke but we'll keep on gliding

We refuse
To be the one dying
No you
Can't be denying

Oh, we choose
It's time to subside
Our muse, oh will never die

I think, I think we could do anything
Our wings are broke
But we'll keep on gliding

I think, I think we could do anything
Our wings are broke
But we'll keep on gliding

We choose

We choose
Our muse, oh will never die

I think, I think we could do anything
Our wings are broke
But we'll keep on gliding

I think, I think we could do anything

Our wings are broke
But we'll keep on gliding

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Her’s song ‘We Choose’ are all about taking control of your own life and refusing to be held back by anyone or anything. The song draws on themes of determination and perseverance in the face of adversity. The first verse is a declaration of intent, stating that the way we’ll be remembered is our own choice, and that no one else can ‘smoke us to embers’ – a metaphor for being burnt out or extinguished. This sets the tone for the rest of the song, which is all about taking control and refusing to let others hold us back.

The second verse is a more direct challenge to anybody who might try to control us. ‘You’re not the one guiding’, the lyrics state, making it clear that we are the ones in charge of our own lives. The chorus comes back in, repeating the idea that ‘we could do anything’, even if our ‘wings are broke’. This is a message of empowerment, letting us know that we can achieve our goals even if we’ve experienced setbacks or failures.

The final verse is a triumphant conclusion, stating that we refuse to be the one dying, and that our muse (or source of inspiration) will never die either. This is a powerful statement of resilience, reminding us that no matter what happens, we can always keep going. Overall, ‘We Choose’ is a song that encourages us to take charge of our own lives, reminding us that we have the power to achieve anything we set our minds to.
