Garden
Herbal Tea Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don′t belong here anymore
Empathic like sonar
If you asked me what the terror's for
I couldn′t tell you

I live and breathe in memories
The good and the ugly
Picking apart formalities
Like plasticine

I was born in a garden
On the outside of fears
Where Cassandra slowly overtakes, overhears
I was born in a garden
When I liked being me
Before the burden of my body

Thoughts pass by like a bird in flight
If you don't catch them quick

I was born in a garden
On the outside of fears
Where Cassandra slowly overtakes, overhears
I was born in a garden
When I liked being me
Before the burden of my body

I don't belong here anymore
I don′t belong...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Herbal Tea's song Garden illustrate a person's struggle with living in the present and grappling with their past. The opening line of "I don't belong here anymore" suggests a disconnect from their current surroundings, and the following line "empathic like sonar" hints at their heightened sensitivity to their environment. The singer then admits they do not know the purpose of their terror, suggesting a sense of anxiety and unease despite their empathy.

The next stanza speaks to the singer's tendency to dwell on memories, good and bad. They describe "picking apart formalities like plasticine," which could be interpreted as over-analyzing and breaking apart past scenarios. The chorus then repeats "I was born in a garden," which creates a stark contrast between their current state of being and a time when they felt free and at ease with themselves. The phrase "on the outside of fears" further emphasizes this sense of disconnection and distance from their current anxieties.

The final stanza brings the focus back to the present, with the line "thoughts pass by like a bird in flight." This suggests the singer's struggle with grasping onto their thoughts and living fully in the present. The repetition of "I don't belong here anymore" intensifies the sense of displacement and disconnection, possibly hinting at a desire for change or escape.

I'm a huge fan already. Cynthia's garden is my garden goal. She's very knowledgeable and does a great job explaining all things garden related. I've been wanting to know what to do with all my herbs for tea and this video was perfect!

Mint comes in so many flavors!
I just got ginger mint and basil mint. I’ve seen pear, banana, grapefruit, and apple mint too.
And I am so glad that it’s a perennial plant.
I’m also trying out the oyster leaf plant and fish mint (which isn’t a true mint).

Modern Gardener

Its so lovely because it’s so good fresh, dried, in a salad dressing or marinade, but wait- fish mint?🤯 what’s it like? Ginger mint sounds amazing.
