Developed over a two-month period of stream-of-consciousness recording in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Luke Temple’s self-titled debut under his new moniker Here We Go Magic is a remarkable departure from his signature singer-songwriter material. Luke recorded the album at home using analog synths, a cassette 4-track, and his trusty SM-57 mic, coloring the sound with warmth and creating textures you want to wrap yourself in.

Later in 2009 Temple expanded the project into a fully fledged band with keyboardist Kristina Lieberson , guitarist Michael Bloch , bass guitarist Jennifer Turner and drummer Peter Hale. The second album Pigeons was recorded surrounded by mountains in Catskills, New York in the fall of 2009 and was released by Secretly Canadian on June 8, 2010

Here We Go Magic Lyrics

Look at me
All is yours till the morning comes
Fangela
Look and see
Feast your eyes on a winded world
OK
And he barely made a dent
He had the appearance
Of a talking fog
And then the fog
You can even realize
Your bloodless lips
You've gotta move
You've gotta move
Fangela
Look at me
All is yours till the morning comes
Fangela
Look and see
Feast your eyes on a winded world
OK
You thought you saw
a funny shadow on the wall
With colored eyes
and a hissing sound
That's just the devil
come to petrify your soul
You've gotta move
You've gotta move
You've gotta move
Fangela
Look at me
All is yours till the morning comes
Fangela
Look and see
Feast your eyes on a winded world
OK
The song "Fangela" by Here We Go Magic is an introspective track that addresses insecurity and the fear of the unknown. The song opens with a plea to Fangela, asking her to look at the singer and to take in everything they have to offer until the morning comes. This seems to suggest that the singer is afraid of being forgotten or overlooked, and wants to make a lasting impression on Fangela before it's too late. As the song progresses, the singer begins to reflect on their own appearance and the impression they make on others. They describe themselves as a "talking fog" - someone who is insubstantial and easily forgotten.
The second half of the song takes a slightly darker turn as the singer reflects on the unknown and the possibility of danger lurking around every corner. They describe seeing a "funny shadow on the wall" and hearing a "hissing sound," which they attribute to the devil himself. Despite this fear, the singer urges themselves and others to keep moving forward, to not be paralyzed by fear or uncertainty.
One possible interpretation of this song is that it is about the fear of being forgotten or overlooked, particularly in the context of romantic relationships. The singer seems desperate to make an impression on Fangela and to avoid being seen as insubstantial or forgettable. However, the song also seems to acknowledge that there is always the possibility of danger or the unknown, but that we must keep moving forward and confronting those fears if we want to make an impact on the world.
