Blinded
Herman Düne Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You were mad at me cause i was crazy for you
And you were right and me too
Couldn't imagine you were really empty
And i had to find what was hidden
And shown only by your beauty
Shown only by your beauty
You had to be blind to your own eyes
You had to be blind to your own eyes
I had to be blinded by you
You had your way like you always do-do-do-do-do-do-do
The song "Blinded" by Herman Düne is a reflective piece that tackles the concept of blindness and its different interpretations. The lyrics start with the singer acknowledging that his love interest was mad at him because he was overly invested in the relationship. However, the singer goes on to say that he had to find what lay beneath her beauty, which was hidden and only noticeable to a few. He then brings up the concept of blindness, saying that the person he was with had to be blind to her own eyes to not see what he saw, and he, in turn, had to be blinded by her to see her beauty.
The lyrics can also be interpreted as observing the idea that being blinded, in a metaphorical sense, can be beneficial because it allows individuals to see things from a different perspective. Being blinded by love, for example, can be seen as an advantage since it allows one to appreciate the beauty of their partner on a more profound level, and their shortcomings are not always evident. Love can create a unique sense of blindness.
Moreover, there is a sense of acceptance in the song, where the singer acknowledges that their love interest has their way, allowing them to be in control of the relationship, and that's just how things are. It's a sign of maturity to let love run its course, and sometimes the less you try to control it, the more you get to appreciate its beauty.
