But then they started "improving" on the songs, every single change they made was a downgrade. And it's not just the nostalgia speaking, I also dislike their performances from games that I haven't played.

Easily the best track of all the whole game. Easily.

Closely followed by the Necropolis theme and some of the combat themes.

But then again, this game had the best soundtrack of ALL the HoMM series.

engladtur I also liked the new hero unit system a lot. It was a bit jarring in the previous games to see Barbarian heroes just give bonuses to attack/defense and not actually fight. Sure, it meant your hero dying was actually a thing... but hey, it's more realistic.

I think the diversity went down compared to the previous one though.

I would so play a game with H4's hero system and music with H3's creature and town diversity (Seven creature tiers, and creature upgrades) and it would be the best heroes game ever.

When I listen to this song and Haven's theme I imagine white walls of some big and beautiful catholic church or temple beneath the rays of sunshine. I wish I could be able to draw this someday. I am a Hindi Speaker. I had no idea of the music they played in HOMM IV, black in 2010 like other games I played this too. although I didnt like this turn based game but I liked stroy very much and this stunning music affected me very much. This song makes you feel that Heroes IV was arguably the most underrated game of all - sure, it was ugly, but I can resist that - because the ABSOLUTELY. MAGICAL. Music makes up for the rest of the game (that said, it had the best battle system, if not for the lack of unit upgrades and poor animations)

This was the best music a Heroes game ever had! Don't get me wrong, HOMM 4 as a game was not as good as 3 or 5, but it did have the best music. I still now listen to the soundtrack from time to time, even though I don't play the game anymore :)
