The Silence
Heroic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fall and see, it's not that far
What we called victory has turned to scars

What happened to the human race?
The respect for the rest should be common place
The East is beating on their chest to show the threat from the West
And both are fighting to be best and people in between can only wish to be blessed
The world is a mess, and it feeds my rage
It's like we're struck in the middle of the Iron Age
If I could get chance, I would smash my fist to that leader's face
But I don't got that map or that kind of level
But sure as hell so close to awake the devil
We are all equipped, with this inner rebel
Now put it on outside just for a while
Use it as a weapon to fight the lies
Stand up against those who stole your lives
Cuz in the end it's actually you who decide
The difference between live and die

Fall and see, it's not that far
What we called victory has turned to scars

You and me are we
But too many people that disagree
Too much greed, less empathy, too much powerful people, less responsability
We don't need to vote cuz soon it's all anarchy
Arrivals from life, departures to death
Free tickets, good riddance we couldn't care less
No justice, just a world that collapses
More funerals than weddings, it all turns into ashes
The world is ugly bizarre, your silence comes slowly and defines who you are
Sucidal, survival, idols become rivals
Who be the first to pick up a rifle?

Fall and see, it's not that far
What we called victory has turned to scars
Burnt beliefs, the world goes dark
The silence comes slowly, defines who we are
You lead the way down the path that's yours to take
Aim past the end and dare to stand up straight

Fall and see, it's not that far
What we called victory has turned to scars

Fall and see, it's not that far
What we called victory has turned to scars

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Heroic's song "The Silence" are reflective of the current state of society. The chorus, "Fall and see, it's not that far. What we called victory has turned to scars" suggests that what we once considered triumphant has now left deep wounds. The first stanza of the song describes the absence of human respect and a lack of common ground when it comes to ideologies around the world. The East and West are both striving to be the best, leaving those in between with nothing but the desire to be blessed. The state of the world causes the singer to feel rage and wish to take action against the leaders, yet feels powerless to do so.

The second stanza continues to paint a grim picture of the world. The notion of "you and me" becomes more complicated as there are too many dissenting voices and not enough empathy. The chorus repeats emphasizing that what was once victorious has only left scars, and the world is becoming darker. The final lines encourage us to take control of our path and rise above the chaos- "You lead the way down the path that's yours to take. Aim past the end and dare to stand up straight."
