Lore
Het Zesde Metaal Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lore, gie ziet min skoonste platen,

we geven ons zere gewonnen.

W' èn altijd dezelfste visie over 't leven g'hèd.
W'aten 's avonds alletwee voe noene.
Zi' nie' verlegen omdat zelfs asem'n u moeite kost.

Overall Meaning

The song begins with the singer questioning Lore's current state. He wants to know if she's still living in the house of old heartache. He then reminisces about the past when she used to fly kites in the park, dress up and find joy in little things. But now, she seems indifferent to even finding her shoes and walking around the park amidst the lush greenery and statues. He wonders if it's those eyes that follow her around, compelling her to do things that could bring back the fleeting joy of childhood.

He then addresses Lore directly, telling her that she sees the most gorgeous images in the form of a woman. But why are the most beautiful images so sad and lonely? He wishes she could laugh again, even in the dark room where she fits with her sister in one sleeping bag. He recalls her sister's concern about looking out for her, and the singer's own promise to take care of her, which he failed to keep. He eventually comes to the conclusion that the world needs them now, and they can't keep fighting over trivial matters or seeking revenge. He ends the song by saying that people with the roughest voices often sing the most.
