Alessandra is a talented soprano, wielding various styles of singing from Mediterranean to northern European, from ancient to modern. Like Gothica, the compositions contrast low bass tones with heavenly voices, but the music is calmer and softer. Hexperos plays a somber and sublime "music of love and mystery".
The debut album, "The Garden of the Hesperides", came out in September 2007 on Equilibrium Music. The next album, "The Veil of Queen Mab" was released in September 2010, also on the EQM label.

Le Lacrime Di Proserpina
Hexperos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ma non sapevo che nascere folle,
Aprire le zolle
Potesse scatenar tempesta.
Così Proserpina lieve
Vede piovere sulle erbe,
Sui grossi frumenti gentili
E piange sempre la sera.
The lyrics of Hexperos's song Le Lacrime Di Proserpina depict the story of Proserpina, the goddess of springtime and queen of the underworld, who was abducted by Pluto, the god of the underworld. The first stanza sets the scene of Proserpina's birth, which occurred on the 21st of spring, but she didn't know that being born wild and opening the earth's soil could unleash a storm. The second stanza describes Proserpina as a delicate figure who watches rain pour on her surroundings, causing her to cry every evening. It is uncertain whether her tears are a plea for help or an expression of grief for being trapped in the underworld.
The song's lyrics vividly capture the melancholy and sadness that Proserpina feels since her abduction, thus reflecting on her life before and after. In Roman mythology, Proserpina is seen both as a victim of circumstances and a powerful being. The lyrics suggest that she is both vulnerable and sorrowful, and serves to evoke a sense of empathy from listeners, further emphasizing her pain.
