They use piano, guitar, synths, programmed loops and live drums to blast out energetic tunes. They have claimed they will play anywhere, but you can mostly see them in San Francisco. They give away lots of free downloads and stickers. They sell posters and CD's, both online and at live shows.
Hey Young Believer got started when Lilly Wolfson (keys, vox) and Alex Neuhausen (guitar, bass) met at Stanford in spring of 2006. Nick Shilling, the drummer, joined that winter. Alex launches midi bass-line sequences using a foot controller hooked to a PC laptop. Lilly plays a midi keyboard through Reason on a Mac.
Their name comes from the Rancid song "Black Lung Fever" from their album "Life Won't Wait." They claim that it's a saying that would preface some question calling attention to structures and rules in life that they take for granted, just because they've always been that way or because of something they've been told. According to Alex, the way they yell the line in the song, it's unforgettable.
Their first full-length LP, "Invisible by Day" is out now, available on iTunes and Amazon. The album features an eclectic range of material, from the punk style of "Fashion Week," to pure pop like "Waking Up on the Floor," to soulful piano tunes like "Float Away." As of late, the band has moved towards an indie synth-rock sound, as found in the songs "10, 9 8" and "Tidal Waves."

[Verse 1]
First things first
I'ma say all the words inside my head
I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh-ooh
The way that things have been, oh-ooh
Second thing second
Don't you tell me what you think that I can be
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh-ooh
The master of my sea, oh-ooh
[Pre-Chorus]
I was broken from a young age
Taking my sulking the masses
Write down my poems for the few
That looked at me took to me, shook to me, feeling me
Singing from heart ache from the pain
Take up my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the...
[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
[Verse 2]
Third things third
Send a prayer to the ones up above
All the hate that you've heard has turned your spirit to a dove, oh-ooh
Your spirit up above, oh-ooh
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I was choking in the crowd
Living my brain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke open and it rained down
It rained down, like...
[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
[Bridge]
Last things last
By the grace of the fire and the flames
You're the face of the future, the blood in my veins, oh-ooh
The blood in my veins, oh-ooh
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like...
[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you built me up, believer, believer

Before I was a huge Imagine Dragons fan I had only known them through "Radioactive" and "Demons". I told my parents I liked those songs and I got tickets to their concert in 2015. I remember sitting in the crowd listening to their opening to Shots, it was breathtaking. They're just so damn talented and humble. I remember Dan was up on stage talking about eating at a hole in the wall diner in Atlanta, he must have thanked us 20 times during the concert for listening to them. Thank you Dan, Daniel, Wayne, and Ben for all the music you've inspired me with. Your kindness and lyrics have made me a better person.

I only knew them through Radioactive thanks to Defiance but then listened to the rest of their songs and they've become one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. They're amazing talented and great at what they do.
