The lyrics to Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Choir's song The Battle convey a powerful message of faith and surrender. The message is that the battles and challenges of life are not ours to fight alone, but rather belong to the Lord. The repetition of the line "for the battle is not yours, it's the Lord's" emphasizes this point and reminds the listener to trust in God and not rely on their own strength. The line "hold your peace, let the Lord fight for you" is a call to surrender control and trust that God will come through for us in the end. The tenors' repetition of the line "for the battle is not yours" reinforces this message and encourages the listener to have faith even in the midst of difficult times. Overall, the song is a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and trust in God, even during life's toughest battles.
