The Planets
Hi 5 Lyrics

It gives me all I need
And helps me co-exist with the chill
You make me sick because I adore you so
I love all the dirty tricks
And twisted games you play on me
Peace will arise and tear us apart
And make us meaningless again
You'll make us want to die
I'd cut your name in my heart
We'll destroy this world for you
I know you want me to feel your pain
Space dementia in your eyes
Peace will arise and tear us apart
And make us meaningless again
The lyrics of Hi 5's song "The Planets" talk about the relationship between the singer and their lover. The first two lines express an intense desire for the lover, where the singer believes that their significant other is the missing piece of their life. The line, "helps me co-exist with the chill" gives a sense of the singer needing their lover to cope with a cold, harsh reality. This creates a co-dependence on each other, where the singer cannot exist without their lover.
The next verse is where things take a dark turn. The line, "you make me sick because I adore you so," shows a twisted fascination with their lover, who is playing dirty tricks and twisted games on them. This shows a toxic relationship where the singer is hooked on the attention and validation that their lover gives them. The line, "I'd cut your name in my heart," shows a willingness to cause self-harm for the love of their partner. The singer perceives themselves as the victim of their lover's manipulation, yet they are still willing to destroy the world for them. Space dementia in the eyes of the lover and the tearing apart of peace will make them meaningless again, which indicates that the singer sees their relationship as an all-encompassing one that gives existence to their lives.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Planets" paint a picture of a co-dependent relationship where the singer is willing to endure emotional pain and destruction for the attention and validation of their lover. It is a heartbreaking representation of a toxic relationship that is damaging to both parties involved.

George Jetson- “First comes Mercury so hot near the sun. Second is Venus it’s the very next one. Third is the Earth a lovely place to be. Then comes Mars it’s red as you can see! The fifth is Jupiter the biggest up in space. And if we went to Saturn we’d see rings around the place. Uranus is the seventh a long long way away and Neptune’s number eight the place it mostly stays! Pluto’s at the very end a frozen little dot but there’s no place like home, Earth’s my favourite spot!”
