HighasaKite make songs unlike most things yet to come out of Norway. Pop music with a twist. Let's start in Brooklyn. Via Monrovia to Piraeus and Norwegian mountaintops on to Stockholm.
Irresistible soundscapes full of tasty hooks and mysterious stories, musicians from some of Norways best young bands and then some – Highasakite is undoubtably one of the most original and exciting indiebands you’ve come across in a while.
Keyboards, zither, pounding drums and the occasional noise guitar together with Ingrid Helene's distinctive voice makes a delicious blend of exciting indie pop inspired by artists such as Lykke Li and the movie Where The Wild Things Are.
Highasakite's debut album "All That Floats Will Rain" has received rave reviews throughout the Norwegian press, some even calling it album of the year (Dagbladet) and saying that "No song on this album is redundant, it's all brilliantly brought to life. This, ladies and gentlemen, is pop music!"
Highasakite is playing many of Norways biggest and most important festivals this summer, amonst them Øya and Hove, in support of their debut album 'All That Floats Will Rain', out February 3rd 2012, on Norwegian indie label Riot Factory.
My Only Crime
Highasakite Lyrics

if I dive in deep down and loose my mind
But I'm still in control while I ride off to war
on a horse into the bluest night I made a deal and woke up sworn
I have the Devil in my bone
I dreamt I was the Devils child
if I dive in deep down and loose my mind
on a horse into the bluest night
But I'm still in control while I ride off to war
on a horse into the bluest night
I made a deal and woke up sworn
I have the Devil in my bone Oh, this love of mine
my only crime But I'm still in control while I ride off to war
on a horse into the bluest night
The lyrics of "My Only Crime" by Highasakite are open to interpretation, but they seem to deal with the singer's internal struggle between good and evil. The first line, "I dreamt I was the Devils child," suggests that the singer has been grappling with some dark thoughts or desires. However, they assert their control in the following line, "But I'm still in control while I ride off to war // on a horse into the bluest night." This could be interpreted as the singer's ability to harness their dark impulses for good and use them to fight for what they believe in.
The chorus reveals more about the singer's internal conflict: "I made a deal and woke up sworn // I have the Devil in my bone // Oh, this love of mine // my only crime." It seems that the singer has made a bargain with the devil, but they remain committed to their own values and desires despite this. The "love of mine" could refer to the singer's own consciousness or sense of self, which they see as their greatest asset and the source of their strength. The phrase "my only crime" is ambiguous; it could mean that the singer sees their internal conflicts as a source of shame, or that they see the act of being true to oneself as a transgression of social norms.
Overall, the lyrics of "My Only Crime" suggest a complex and deeply personal struggle between good and evil, self-control and impulse. The precise meaning may differ from person to person, but the song seems to speak to the universal experience of grappling with one's own demons and finding a way to live with them.
