Continuities of time and space are disrupted in a heart beat by the weight of a Higher Than Pope composition. One second you are late 60's retro and then next avant-garde progressive rock. There appears to be a genre warp as the HTP black hole collapses genre after genre, with none appear to escape unscathed.

Fans say: "wow you are really interesting and original sounding. I am listening. you are whacked in a good way....I am listening."

Although primarily a guitar band, HTP have no qualms about snipping bits from multiple genres and splicing the results together. HTP are not big on songs that evolve so slowly you fall asleep between intro and verse. Instead they practice revolution and from one moment to the next you have no idea what may transpire next as you are catapulted from one sonic event to another.

Does 1 John 5:7-8 Have Added Text ?

Some person or persons in centuries past were so zealous to find support for their belief in the Trinity that they literally added it.

There are numerous Scholars in fact that inform us that this passage has a spurious comment which has been added.

The textual Scholar Bart Ehrman described this forgery as follows: “…this represents the most obvious instance of a theologically motivated corruption in the entire manuscript tradition of the New Testament.”

Thus the scholarly consensus is that this passage is a Latin corruption that found its way into a Greek manuscript at an early date while being absent from the THOUSANDS of other manuscripts.

This addition is so famous and hence so well known that it has even been given its own name and is called the “Comma Johanneum.”
Comma means a short clause.

Modern Bible translations come from two manuscripts called the Codex Sinaiticus, which has more edits than any other manuscript in Biblical history (14800 edits), and the Codex Vaticanus which comes from the Vatican.

These two manuscripts do NOT contain the Comma Johanneum and why this added text is not found in modern Bible translations other than the NKJV where it was added only to match the KJV.

The King James New Testament on the other hand was compiled from over 5000 copies of copies of the original manuscripts which have long since perished.

Now please take careful note that this added text was found in only ONE of the 5000 plus manuscripts.
THAT MEANS ADDED !

And so there is not one major theologian that does not acknowledge this fact.
And yet considering all the irrefutable facts, it is amazing that there are still some who go into denial rather than acknowledge this well-known corruption that is so famous that it has even been given its own name !

The English King James Bible translated in 1611 AD retains this Trinitarian forgery, but none of our modern translations have it except the NKJV where it was added to match the KJV.

The King James Version reads as follows, “For there are three that bear record IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE. 8 AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” 1 John 5:7-8

Thus the words in CAPS are found in the KJV, NKJV but are missing from almost every other translation.

Thomas Nelson and Sons Catholic Commentary, 1951, page 1186 states, “It is now generally held that this passage, called the Gomma Johanneum, is a gloss that crept into the text of the Old Latin and Vulgate at an early date, but found its way into the Greek text only in the 15th and 16th centuries.”

Here is how 1 John 5:7-8 reads from the NIV and most other Bible translations.
“For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.”

Erasmus did not include the infamous Comma Johanneum of 1 John 5:7-8 in either his 1516 or 1519 editions of his Greek New Testament but made its way into his third edition in 1522 because of pressure from the Catholic Church.

After his first edition appeared in 1516, there arose such a furor over the absence of the Comma that Erasmus needed to defend himself.
He argued that he did not put in the Comma Trinitarian formula because he found no Greek manuscripts that included it.

Once one was produced called the Codex 61, that was written by one Roy or Froy at Oxford in c. 1520, he reluctantly agreed to include it in his subsequent editions.
Erasmus probably altered the text because of politico-theologico-economic concerns.

He did not want his reputation ruined, nor his Novum Instrumentum to go unsold.
Thus it passed into the Stephanus Greek New Testament in 1551 (first New Testament in verses), which came to be called the Textus Receptus, and became the basis for the Geneva Bible New Testament in 1557 and the Authorized King James Version in 1611.

“The passage as given in the KJV is in no Greek Manuscript earlier than the 15th and 16th centuries.

The disputed words found their way into the KJV by way of the Greek text of Erasmus
(see Volum V, page 141).

It is said that Erasmus offered to include the disputed words in his Greek Testament if he were shown even one Greek Manuscript that contained them.

A library in Dublin produced such a Manuscript (known as 34), and Erasmus included the passage in his text.

It is now believed that the later editions of the Vulgate acquired the passage by the mistake of a scribe who included an exegetical marginal comment in the Bible text that he was copying
.
The disputed words have been widely used in support of the doctrine of the Trinity, but, in view of such overwhelming evidence against their authenticity, their support is valueless and should not be used.

In spite of their appearance in the Vulgate A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture freely admits regarding these words: “It is now generally held that this passage, called the Comma Johanneum, is a gloss that crept into the text of the Old Latin and Vulgate at an early date, but found its way into the Greek text only in the 15th and 16th centuries”

I did meet with the archeologist Vendyl Jones in 1983. His person was modeled in the Harrison Ford character. (endy) He at that time believed he had found Zadok's tomb. He was given use of the copper scroll, which was a textual map and located many hidden temple treasures. According to Vendyl the Israelis wouldn't let him go after the Ark as he believed it's location was at Golgotha, Ron Wyatt confirmed his belief.

i went to my local Adventist church on Sabbath in 2017. As a newcomer, i said hello to the church pastor and elders and declared....I have just discovered Sabbath . And their next question...by whom. I found Walter about a year ago and have enjoyed his lectures. Have watched his 3 part testimony with him and his wife twice. Very interesting how he became a believer. However 50 minutes into the second part of darkness before dawn, I have come to the reality of how Blessed we are, to have educated men like him who do such a excellent job of opening our minds to understanding, so that we can make unconfused decisions in this world , with so many winds of Doctrine flying around. Truly God knew when to call this man out of darkness and into the light. May God Bless his work.

Many of your earlier lectures have the comments disabled Walter. Its good to find these ones that allow comments. So often I pick up little nuggets of gold in these.
This one has some big nuggets that add to our wisdom.
All your lectures are good for doctrine, reproof and lessons both righteousness & in faulce dogmas that you so often smash out of the park and into obscurity where they belong.

@King Mufasa I have no problem with Walter Veith using a quote from Charles Ryrie's book. My problem is with him leading people to believe that Ryrie's work is a good source of information. He should've made it clear that the theology that Ryrie promotes in the book that the definition was taken from is false, yet his definition of propitiation is accurate, instead of leaving the door open for people to possibly be misled by Ryrie's teachings. I love Walter Veith and have learned so much from him. I cannot love the pictures that he uses for the verses. From 10:57-11:08 we see Golgotha and the three crosses, plus an occult signal picture; the sun rising between two hills (whoever drew that picture knew what they were doing). In the occult Babylonian system one of their symbols for the ‘birth of the sun god’ (Nimrod), is the sun rising between two hills. Not to be vulgar but those people are, the two hills represents the outer portion of the female genitalia and the sun is being ‘birthed.’ They are disgusting and that picture is vulgar and obscene. Another one is the circle and the dot (the symbol of ‘Target’ stores), with the circle being the female organ and the dot being the male organ, pornography in plain sight, very disgusting to say the least. You can find their pagan symbols online, there are a plethora of them.

Jesus was only rejected by his People after the diaspora. even when the Greek descendant religious leaders were rejected by the Jews [answered by Rome's intervention and destruction of the Nation] these leaders remained as religious authority in the diaspora. so the Jews after a period of time didn't have any official version of the events, other than theirs. @aadyarose Moses was not divine and had no power to do miracles. He was a human stand in for the Word, God. Everything he told the Pharaoh was what God would do. I will acknowledge that most people put in their own understanding of what it says. It needs to be read with the help of the Holy Spirit. We need to ask Jesus for wisdom, truth and understanding.

I have always loved to listen to prof. Walter Veith and over time I've come to put much confidence in his teachings, but he has raised a major "RED" flag in this video!!! Professor Veith, uses a quote from Charles C. Ryrie, who is a very notable advocate of classic Premillenial Dispensationalism (Futurism), to give definition to the word "Propitiation", and Prof. Veith then considers him to be "a very good source" for information. Classic Premillenial Dispensationalism is an APOSTATE theology. It's another gospel! So why would you use one of its prominent advocates as a source of information, and tell your audience that he is "a very good source" for information?
Charles C Ryrie has written books and he has also published a study bible that picks up where the Scofield study bible left off, all advocating Dispensational Theology (Futurism), a false gospel. This has got me bewildered! I'm hoping and praying that this has been done in ignorance, or simple error. Please, I would appreciate it if someone at AD would respond to me and explain the reason behind this!

Jesus's People accepted him and received him as a king everywhere he went. they followed him by the thousands as recorded in many passages. it was the religious leaders who rejected him. they weren't even Levites nor Jews in the 1st century after Herod the Great had supplanted the religious leadership with Greek descendants after massacring the Hasmonean Priesthood and dynasty. including his 2 own sons with the Hasmonean princess, his wife. yes, Jesus came to his own but his own, the religious leaders, didn't receive him, they weren't there. they weren't even alive anymore. it doesn't apply to the Jewish People though. they did receive him, he wasn't rejected even in the smallest village.

You misinterpret the Scriptures. I would like to have you explain these weather phenomena; wind, storm fronts, hurricanes/cyclones, tornadoes, and the movement of clouds across the skies? A flat earth cannot produce these things. To the Scriptures, you misinterpret the word ‘moved,’ do a word search for ‘moved,’ and apply your interpretation to all of them. David said he shall not be moved, did he remain frozen in place? If you had a KJV with marginal reference you would find that the word ‘moved’ means ‘shaken.’ Those who have fallen for the flat earth deception treat it as their religion and will not rest until they make everyone believe the way they do. I believe we are to interpret the Bible and understand it by taking the over all view of all verses with regards to a topic. The Bible always interprets itself completely.
