Find Heaven
Hilary Scott Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One day I will look for you

And you will not be there

You will fly small and

Unseen your spirit in the air

And you'll find heaven

I will not remember your name,

Will not save your face

But you are not from this world, you

Are not from this place

You are from heaven

When I'm beaten down

I will hear a sound

I will turn around

I'll be lost and found

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Hilary Scott reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the transient existence of individuals. She begins by expressing a poignant longing to search for someone who is no longer present. The person she seeks has passed away and ascended to a spiritual realm, as indicated by the line "You will fly small and unseen, your spirit in the air." With their departure from this earthly realm, they will ultimately find heaven.

The second paragraph implies a sense of forgetfulness and detachment from the person who has departed. The singer acknowledges that they will eventually forget this person's name and even the image of their face. This suggests that their connection was ethereal, grounding the idea that the person was not part of this world. Their origin is believed to be from heaven, implying a divine or celestial nature.

The following verses continue to explore the theme of transcendence and spiritual connection. When the singer is feeling beaten down and overwhelmed by life's challenges, a sound will pierce through the turmoil. This sound serves as a beacon of guidance and comfort. Intrigued by the sound, the singer turns around and discovers a sense of being both lost and found. This can be interpreted as a transformative experience, where they are given a renewed sense of purpose and direction.

Overall, these lyrics speak to the idea that there is something beyond the tangible world we inhabit. The person the singer longs for has transcended to a higher plane, and their presence is felt through a spiritual connection. It hints at the notion that there is a realm beyond our limited human perception, where souls find solace and peaceโ€”a place where heaven exists.

I'm so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don't wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I've got is hurt and these four words
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
I know you're good
But this don't feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It's hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you're God
And I am not
So
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will
I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Yourโ€ฆ

Four years ago today I was diagnosed with leukaemia, I was 29 at the time with a 2.5 year old daughter. I listened to this song everyday for six months before I went for chemo. My husband, my faith in God and this song is what got me through! So thank you. I am now over 3.5 years in remission.

My mom died a year and a half ago from leukemia. Some days, it's songs like this one that keep me going.
