P.s. I Love You
Hilltoppers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The weather's cool, the folks are fine
I'm in bed each night at nine
(P.S. I love you)
Yesterday we had some rain
But, all in all, I can't complain
Was it dusty on the train?
Write to the Browns just as soon as you're able
They came around to call
I burned a hole in the dining room table
And let me see, I guess that's all
Nothing else for me to say
And so I'll close but, by the way
Everybody's thinking of you
(P.S. I love you)
Write to the Browns just as soon as you're able
The came around to call
I burned a hole in the dining room table
And let me see, I guess that's all
Nothing else for me to say
And so I'll close but, by the way
Everybody's thinking of you
(P.S. I love you, love you, love you, love you)
The song "P.S. I Love You" by Hilltoppers is a classic love letter in the form of a song. The opening lines of the song showcase a love letter written by the singer to his beloved. He starts off by telling her that he wants to drop her a line and informs her that the weather is cool and the folks back home are fine. He then goes on to mention that he goes to bed early each night.
He tells his beloved that they had some rain the previous day but overall, things are going well for him, and he has no complaints. He asks her if it was dusty on the train, signifying that he wants to know every detail of her life.
The singer then moves on to inform his beloved about some mundane things that happened in his life. He tells her to write to the Browns as soon as possible since they had dropped by. The singer also reveals that he accidentally burned a hole in the dining room table but seems to be nonchalant about it.
In the end, the singer tells his beloved that there is nothing else he needs to say, and he signs off his letter with P.S. I Love You.

First time I've heard this song. It sounds like "Someone To Watch Over Me" but with a better chorus. Johnny Mercer always seemed to have something to say. "I burned a hole in the dining room table" is one of the most interesting lines I've ever heard.

I bought this record when it first came out. Jimmy Sacca and the Hilltoppers were an early 50's group and, "PS I Love You" was one of their most popular songs.

Just finished reading Paprika by Yasutaka Tsutsui. If this is the right song, I can now imagine it playing in the bar, with Jinnai and Kuga. This works well as a credits song too.

In '68, The Vogues made a fantastic version of this 50's classic.

Summer, 1953, I so remember this ! Dad loved this & sang along whenever it came on the radio. From Western Kentucky University, Jimmy Sacca, a nice Italian boy, created The Hilltoppers , THE name of WKU. ----------------WolfSky9, 75 y/o
