The band is notably influenced both by 90s post-grunge as well as by 80s dirty hard rock and glam metal, with several critics noting their debt to Guns n' Roses. Cut to almost five years later after Winkler met the guys, and Hinder built a healthy regional following. They released an independent album, titled 'Far From Close', which sold out several thousands of copies. The band was the object of an honest-to-goodness bidding war between three different major labels that resulted in its major label debut, titled 'Extreme Behavior', coming out to much commercial success in 2005.
True to the group's origins in Austin Winkler's cover band, Hinder has released several covers of songs that have inspired the band. Examples include "Bed of Roses" (by Bon Jovi), "Born to be Wild" (by Steppenwolf), "Take Me Home Tonight" (by Eddie Money), and "Thunderstruck" (by AC/DC). Their debut album included the huge hit (and perhaps their best known original song) "Lips Of An Angel", and said album has been triple-platinum certified by the RIAA.
Although receiving mixed to negative critical reviews for 'Extreme Behavior', setting up a pattern for them as being critical whipping boys, "Lips of an Angel" was a rock smash. It topped both the Top 40 Pop Radio Chart and the Digital Download Chart, also putting the group on the top of multiple radio, video and digital charts including Yahoo, iTunes, and MSN. Facing near impossible expectations put on them, with rambunctious live performances stoking the flames, Hinder's sophomore album, 'Take It To The Limit', proved somewhat of a commercial disappointment by comparison. However, the group still moved hundreds of thousands of records and featured a strong glam metal-esque sound that many fans loved.
The band was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007. After the release of 'Take It To The Limit' in 2008 and 'All American Nightmare' in 2010, though, issues between frontman Winkler and the rest of the band had taken their toll. Finally, on November 20, 2013, it was announced via Loudwire that the band had parted ways with Winkler, the statement saying that there was no animosity towards him but that they just felt it was time to move on. The former Hinder singer has had struggles placing him in rehab before. Saving Abel’s Jared Weeks has often played with the re-jiggered group, and their future is somewhat uncertain though with more studio material promised as of early 2015 (with ex-producer Marshal Dutton being their current singer).

Everybody's Wrong
Hinder Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Down to my last cigarette
No missed calls and alcohol
I guess that's all that I got left
No one saw what you did to me this time
And a million times before
I look like a devil's child
You're the one who slammed the door
Everybody thinks they know me
You're the saint and I'm the phony
But you're the one who faked it all along
Everybody sees you cryin'
Lyin' lookin' like you're dyin'
Everybody knows what's goin' on
But everybody's wrong
Ain't I the kind of guy your momma
Told you not to hang around?
Sure enough you know who's gonna
Break your heart and bring you down
But she never saw you out at midnight
Actin' like you own the bar
To me you ain't no angel's child
I know who you are
Everybody thinks they know me
You're the saint and I'm the phony
But you're the one who faked it all along, yeah, yeah
Everybody sees you cryin'
Lyin' lookin' like you're dyin'
Everybody knows what's goin' on
But everybody's wrong about the one who needs
To let it out and just come clean
I've lost it all but I can't be your loser anymore
Everybody thinks they know me
You're the saint and I'm the phony
But you're the one who faked it all along, yeah, yeah
Everybody sees you cryin'
Lyin' lookin' like you're dyin'
Everybody knows what's goin' on, yeah, yeah
Everybody thinks they know me
You're the saint and I'm the phony
But you're the one who faked it all along, oh
Everybody sees you cryin'
Lyin' lookin' like you're dyin'
Everybody knows what's goin' on
But everybody's wrong
Hinder's song "Everybody's Wrong" narrates a story of a man who is sitting alone, with an empty bottle and his last cigarette, contemplating his life. He reflects on his past experiences with a woman who had repeatedly hurt him but managed to manipulate everyone into thinking he is the bad guy. The singer addresses the woman responsible for his current state, calling her out for deceiving everyone, playing the victim, and pretending to be someone she is not. The lyrics demonstrate the singer's realization that he cannot continue to be in a toxic relationship, and he must strive to let go of the pain and move on.
The song also exposes the idea that people tend to form opinions based on what they think they see or know, without recognizing that there may be more to the story than meets the eye. The recurring phrase "Everybody's wrong" emphasizes the message that judgments should be reserved until all the facts are presented.
Overall, "Everybody's Wrong" showcases the theme of deception and personal growth, while reminding listeners not to jump to conclusions without careful consideration.

Sittin' here with an empty bottle
I'm alone with nothing left except for an empty bottle
Down to my last cigarette
I only have one cigarette left
No missed calls and alcohol
I haven't received any calls and I'm drinking alcohol
I guess that's all that I got left
I only have alcohol to keep me company
No one saw what you did to me this time
You hurt me again and no one witnessed it
And a million times before
This is not the first time you've hurt me
I look like a devil's child
I appear to be a troubled person
You're the one who slammed the door
You left me by ending our relationship
Everybody thinks they know me
People assume they understand who I am
You're the saint and I'm the phony
You're perceived as the good person and I'm seen as the fake
But you're the one who faked it all along
You're the one who pretended to be someone you're not
Everybody sees you cryin'
People witness you showing emotions
Lyin' lookin' like you're dyin'
You appear to be upset and untruthful
Everybody knows what's goin' on
People assume they understand what's happening in our lives
But everybody's wrong about the one who needs
People don't understand who actually requires help
To let it out and just come clean
To confess and reveal the truth
I've lost it all but I can't be your loser anymore
Even though I've lost everything, I can't continue to be your failure
