Get Stoned
Hinder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just hear me out
If it's not perfect, I'll perfect it till my heart explodes
I highly doubt
That I can make it through another one of your episodes
Lashing out
One of the petty moves you pull before you lose control

You wear me out
But it's all right now

Let's go home and get stoned
We could end up making love instead of misery
Go home and get stoned
'Cause the sex is so much better when you're mad at me

You wear me out
(We can end up making love instead of misery)
But it's all right now

Without a doubt
Oh, the breakup's worth the makeup sex you're giving me
Let's hash it out
'Cause your bitching and your yelling don't mean anything
Don't count me out
I can handle all the baggage that you're carrying

You wear me out
(Whoa)
But it's all right now

Let's go home and get stoned
We could end up making love instead of misery
Go home and get stoned
'Cause the sex is so much better when you're mad at me

You wear me out
(We can end up making love instead of misery)
But it's all right now

Let's go home and get stoned
We could end up making love instead of misery
Go home and get stoned
'Cause the sex is so much better when you're mad at me

Go home and get stoned
We can end up making love instead of misery
Go home and get stoned
'Cause the sex is so much better when you're mad at me

You wear me out
(We can end up making love instead of misery)
But it's all right now
('Cause the sex is so much better when you're mad at me)

Let's go home and get stoned
(Whoa)
Let's go home and get stoned
(Whoa)
Let's go home and get stoned

(Whoa)
Let's go home and get stoned

Overall Meaning

The song "Get Stoned" by Hinder is an emotionally charged piece about a tumultuous relationship that is on the brink of collapse. The song starts with the singer lamenting about his partner's constant episodes and petty moves that pushes him to the brink of heartbreak but he promises to stick it out regardless of her insecurities. He's willing to perfect their relationship until his heart explodes, but he doubts his ability to make it through another one of his partner's episodes. However, he's willing to stay and fight for their love.

Despite their ups and downs, the singer suggests that they go home and get stoned. The idea being that they could either end up making love or continue to fight, but the sex would be so much better when they are mad at each other. The chorus is repeated three times throughout the song, with the last line changing slightly each time, emphasizing the importance of their physical relationship.

The song highlights the toxic nature of relationships that exist purely for physical pleasure without emotional connections. It suggests that the couple is likely to be better served by separating, but they are so thoroughly enmeshed that they cannot seem to walk away from each other.

Overall, the lyrics serve as a warning to those who willingly stay in a relationship that is not serving their best interests. The singer acknowledges that the sex may be great when they're angry, but that cannot be a strong enough reason to endure constant heartbreak.

This song is a time capsule of 2005.

My mother had this song on her mixtape when I was growing up 😂

@Beckaboo3397

I seen them in concert, watching these now brings back memories and also makes me feel butterflies again because they were so hot 🥵
I was taking photos at the concert and I was that close I was touching the stage and the guitarist deliberately winked at me whilst I was taking a photo of him and I didn’t catch what he was kicking until it was too late!!!

Why cant music be this good anymore? I miss the early/mid 2000s music

@ConstructiveGamer

It will be again soon, through pain, there will be beautiful music that comes through the cracks and breaks everyone free of their pain once more, the problem is that the industry and the system is rigged right now, however it is being exposed daily

@TheCyberblues2

i like this kind of music from time to time, but it isnt as good as some of the alt pop/rock out now. Most songs from this era sound exactly the same with singers who sing exactly the same.

@kacwyo

The reason I love them is because it's more of the 80's sound some of us search for.
