Room
Hinder Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She said, "Nice to meet you."
But she didn't tell me her name
With red lipstick and pale pink boots
This bitch just blew me away
Cocktails later, she said to me
"Don't be late, and here's my key."

Wanna know what happened next?
Just take a wild guess
I stumbled up the stairs
To room twenty-one
I walked in and saw her on the bed
There was nothing to be said
When we were done, she said she loved the taste of my oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

When I came to next morning
There were cigarettes put out on the floor
Her panties hangin' from the door knob
Yes, she left me craving more
I swear to God you'd feel the same
If you got used by what's her name

Wanna know what happened next?
Well, take a wild guess
I stumbled out the door
Of room twenty-one
I walked out with her in my head
Can't remember a damn thing she said
When we were done, she said she loved the taste of my oh

She said, "Nice to meet you."
I never forget a face
Here we go again, and I can't wait
I'm gonna get used by what's her fuckin' name

Wanna know what happened next?
Just take a wild guess
I stumbled out the door
Of room twenty-one
I walked out with her in my head
I can't remember a damn thing she said
Stumblin' out the door
Of room twenty-one
(Here we go again)
Room twenty-one
(Here we go again)
Room twenty-one
(Here we go again)
Room twenty-one
(Here we go again)
Room twenty-one
(Here we go again)

Room twenty-one
(Here we go again)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hinder's song 07-Room 21 are a vivid and explicit depiction of a one-night stand. The singer meets a woman who leaves him smitten with her red lipstick and pale pink boots. She gives him her hotel room key, and he enters room twenty-one to find her waiting for him on the bed, ready for some passion. The lyrics suggest that there was no need for words as the two engaged in physical intimacy. The singer describes feeling used the next morning as he wakes up alone to find cigarettes put out on the floor, and the womanโ€™s panties hanging from the doorknob. Despite this, he still wants to see her again, suggesting that the thrill of the encounter was worth the feeling of being used.

The song plays into the theme of short-lived pleasure, and the fact that the singer repeats his actions suggests that he is addicted to this kind of encounter, even if it results in him feeling empty or used. The lyrics also capture the woman's power in the situation, as she leaves him craving more even as he recognizes that he may be just another conquest for her. Ultimately, the song paints a picture of the often-taboo experience of a one-night stand, highlighting both the thrill and emptiness that can come with such an encounter.

I was carded when I bought this album, and I was 45 ๐Ÿ˜†. But that wasn't the cool part.. the coolest thing was that the cashier who had carded me, looked at me and my license, and with a strange look on her face, doubled checking my i.d and my personal appearance wasn't sure how to proceed with the sale but took me at my word when asked about the year I was born. I'm still flattered by this young lady who cared enough to card me with disbelief.
