Haunted
Holly Brook Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Its gonna be another restless sleep tonight
The ghosts inside my head
Are moving furniture and eating dynamite
They’re moving furniture and eating dynamite
Take me up the rill
To haunted hill
The orphanage
Where the spirits fly
And never die
Where the spirits fly
And never die
There, it’s always cold
Well I’ve got a fever and I’d like to make it snow
That’s why I feel so old
All these spectres need a better place to go
All these spectres need a better place to go
We could get a chill
On haunted hill
Where the saddest parts
Inside my heart
Can live in the past
Leave me at last
Can live in the past
Leave me at last
Leave me with goodwill
On haunted hill
Past the floating
The orphanage
Where the spirits fly
And never die
Where the spirits fly
And never die
The lyrics to Holly Brook's "Haunted" are a haunting depiction of the struggles and fears that internally haunt the artist's mind. The opening lines paint a picture of a restless night full of ghosts and spirits playing tricks in her head. The metaphors used in these lines, such as the ghosts eating dynamite and moving furniture, indicate the destructive impact these recollections have on Holly's psyche.
The second verse mentions Haunted Hill, a place where the spirits of memories and losses linger on. She invokes this place as a possible sanctuary, where the saddest parts of her heart can take refuge from her present-day struggles. Throughout the song, the artist seems to struggle with the idea that she can never truly escape from the dark memories and pain that haunt her from within. She wants to find solace and peace from the ghosts that torment her.
Overall this song is a moving testimony of the complex emotional landscape that many individuals struggle with, and the uncertainty of being able to overcome the struggles and fears that reside within us. The haunting melody and melancholic lyrics make for a very emotional and relatable song.
