Heavy
Holly Brook Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Shed your skin to rest my naked eye
And criticize
All that I implore
Seems to be one foot outside that door
Coming between me and waking
Underneath the corset of your mystery
I'm sleeping with seclusion in sweet disarray
You can go heavy on me
And I will not weigh you down, down, down
You can be steady and clean
I can take it
Heavy on me
And I will not weigh you down
Born unto this pride
Silence is something you can't hide
You can't deny us
Nothing has been said
Yet so many words have filled my head
Now they completely surround me
Tie the lines of honest conductivity
Caught between the center of our gravity
I don't have that much time to burn anymore
The song "Heavy" by Holly Brook seems to be about a person who is struggling in a relationship, unable to communicate their feelings to their partner. The opening lines of the song express the singer's distress, as they are unable to express themselves freely, and their partner seems to be on the verge of walking out on them. However, the singer also seems to be aware of their inability to communicate and their tendency to criticize their partner. They are struggling to balance their feelings with the need to communicate effectively and have a healthy relationship.
The chorus of the song seems to offer a resolution to this conflict. The singer seems to be saying that they are willing to bear the weight of the relationship, to be the one who carries the emotional burden. They promise that they will not weigh their partner down, and they urge them to be honest and open. The lyrics suggest that the singer is willing to accept the challenges and difficulties of the relationship, as long as they can be honest and communicate effectively.
