Stormy
Holly McNarland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sour Pie
If I told you the story of my life
Would you break down in laughter
Or run from me, hide from me in fright

'Cause I'm stormy again
With your questions
Not knowing what's right
I will taint you and poison your mind
I will eat from your heart,
Tearing you apart
Does it feel as good for you?

'Cause I'm stormy again
Yes I'm stormy again

With your blood soaked lips
Wet my appetite
And the hunger's knotting up inside
I yearn for more than just your mind
My eyes won't ever leave much behind
I yearn for more than just your mind
You would die

'Cause I'm stormy again

Yes I'm stormy again
You would die for me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Holly McNarland's "Stormy" suggest an unhealthy and potentially dangerous desire for control and power. The singer reveals that if they were to share the story of their life, the listener may react with laughter or fear. They feel "stormy," or emotionally turbulent, and are unsure of what is right. They warn that they will "taint" and "poison" the listener's mind, consuming them from the inside out. The singer yearns for more than just the listener's mind, expressing a physical hunger for their blood and body. The final line, "You would die for me," echoes this dangerous desire for control.

Upon further analysis, the lyrics could be interpreted as a metaphor for toxic relationships and the ways in which one person can exert power over another. The singer is portrayed as dangerous and possessive, willing to consume and destroy their victim. The references to blood and appetite suggest a desire for literal consumption, further emphasizing the theme of control and domination. Overall, the lyrics reveal a disturbing and unsettling mindset.
