Valance's first single as a recording artist was a cover of Turkish singer Tarkan's "Kiss Kiss" (composed by Turkish "Diva" Sezen Aksu), released in 2002. The song debuted at No. 1 in both the Australian Recording Industry Association and UK Singles Charts charts in April/May 2002. The director's cut version of the music video was notable in that Valance appeared to be dancing naked. She revealed that she was topless but also wearing flesh-coloured underwear. The footage was then digitally retouched adding strategically placed lighting effects. The song was nominated for four ARIA Music Awards.
Valance's next single, "Down Boy" peaked at #2 in the UK and at #3 in Australia. Her début album, Footprints, was released on 14 October 2002. It debuted and peaked at #9 in the UK and #15 in Australia. The album's third and final single "Naughty Girl" peaked at #3 in Australia and at No. 16 in the UK. In 2003, the first single "State of Mind" from Valance's second album of the same name debuted and peaked at #8 in the UK and at #14 in Australia, but the album did not get into the top 50 of either country.
In 2004, Valance returned to acting, this time in the United States, appearing in episodes of the television series CSI: Miami, Entourage. In 2005, she appeared in an episode of CSI: NY. She then guest-starred in Prison Break, in 2006, as Nika Volek - as Michael Scofield's "wife", a role which she continued to portray in the show's second season.
In 2006, Valance appeared in the National Lampoon comedy Pledge This!, alongside American socialite Paris Hilton. The same year, she was in DOA: Dead or Alive, an adaptation of the popular video game Dead or Alive, where she played Christie. In 2007, she appeared in the TV series Shark and Moonlight. In 2009, Valance played Brenda Snow for the video game Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising. She is also set to appear as Angela in the movie Red Herring and as Sally in the upcoming thriller titled Luster. I got what you're into
There ain't something so new
That told me it ain't true
Let me be, let me through
'cause I don't know what to do
I can move, what I mean
But you gotta set me free
'cause I don't know what to do
I can move, what I mean
But I gotta get me
I'm everything I hate, so infatuated
I'm everything I hate, can't you see I'm waiting?
I can if you say so
I will if you won't go
You're so make a no show
Here we can go slow
Let me be, let me through
'cause I don't know what to do
I can move, what I mean, but I
I'm everything I hate, so infatuated
I'm everything I hate, you make me feel X rated
I'm everything I hate, gonna validate it
I'm everything I hate, can't you see I'm waiting?
There be I'm naked
You're right and I hate it
I'm everything I hate, so infatuated
I'm everything I hate, you make me feel X rated
I'm everything I hate, gonna validate it
I'm everything I hate, can't you see I'm waiting?
I'm everything I hate
I'm everything I hate
I'm everything I hate
The lyrics of Holly Valance's song "Everything I Hate" present a complex theme about self-loathing and infatuation. The first two lines of the verse suggest that the persona is offering something to the listener, but the following line - "There ain't something so new that told me it ain't true" - laments that the persona has heard it all before and cannot believe in their own words. The chorus then reveals the central conflict - "I'm everything I hate, so infatuated" - the persona's self-loathing is to blame for their infatuation, and they express a desperate desire for validation.
The following verse continues the theme of indecision, as the persona repeats that they don't know what to do and must be set free. The line "You're so make a no show" suggests that the love interest has not responded, and the persona is still waiting for validation. The repeated lines of the chorus highlight the persona's desperation to be seen and appreciated for who they are. The bridge further highlights the self-hatred, as the persona expresses that "There be I'm naked, You're right and I hate it".
Overall, the song showcases a cycle of self-loathing and infatuation that leaves the persona feeling trapped and helpless. The lyrics are ambiguous and leave much open to interpretation, but the central message is one of painful longing for validation and love.

Wow. The instrumental is almost identical to "All I need (All I don't have) " by Girls Aloud... but less hot
