Let Go
Hollywood Undead Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Waking up I don't feel alive
How fucked up are we inside
Breaking up in your empty eyes
Where's the truth in all your lies?
Watched you cry, you felt me die
These tears could fill up an empty tide
Looking for a last goodbye
I burned the world for you and I
If I could do it again
Would it be alright?
Or am I living a sin
Just being by your side
Wake up fuck love
Just tampering off your make up
Wake up, enough's enough
I sold my soul for tainted love

Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
And the waves in the sea
They slip away just like me
So let go, oh
You weren't good enough

All those empty eyes
They were twisted by design
What was hidden right behind?
Sometimes fear can leave you blind
Yeah God forsake the ones who make
The temped heart go out and break them
Vicious now, fucking vicious now
Some remember every story
Every inch between the lonely
Every voice that ever told me
Only one could ever hold me
Felt it in between, I remember when I dream
But you're vicious now, yeah you're vicious now

Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
And the waves in the sea
They slip away just like me
So let go, oh
You weren't good enough

What's love?
It's true
Dark hearts don't break, they bruise
Fuck love, fuck you
I'm dying just to hurt you too

Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
Let go, oh
Love isn't good enough
And the waves in the sea
They slip away just like me
So let go, oh
You weren't good enough

The dark hearts
Only dark hearts

Only dark hearts (You're vicious now, yeah you're vicious now!)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hollywood Undead's song, "Let Go," highlight the pain and emptiness that comes along with being in a relationship that is no longer fulfilling. The opening lines of the song, "Waking up I don't feel alive, How fucked up are we inside" suggest a sense of numbness and detachment, followed by the line "Breaking up in your empty eyes," implying that the relationship has lost its spark. The lyrics ask, "Where's the truth in all your lies?" suggesting that the relationship was built on a flawed foundation.

Throughout the song, the theme of letting go and moving on from an unhealthy relationship is present. The line "I sold my soul for tainted love" suggests a desperation to hold onto something that is no longer there. However, the chorus of "Love isn't good enough, You weren't good enough" stands firm in the acceptance that the relationship has run its course.

The lines "What's love? It's true, Dark hearts don't break, they bruise" suggest that the relationship has left emotional scars that are not easily healed. The repetition of "Only dark hearts" at the end of the song suggests that the singer is speaking not only to the person they were with but is also speaking to oneself, acknowledging that love alone cannot heal the pain and emptiness.

I don't get how people can say Hollywood Undead is a horrible band. I've listened to them since I was 9 years old, and I never get sick of their music. Then again the people who say they're bad listen to pop, so.

I think the thing I like about Hollywood Undead is that they sing about partying, but the songs aren't repetitive and stupid, they sing about love, but in a way demonstrating how it's fucked up most of the time, and they sing about societal problems, and they don't make it sound super edgy. They are perfection!

+DrakoTheNightmare Indeed, I simply like HU for the variety in their songs and videos.

+bbb888 I honestly don't get how someone can hate Hollywood Undead

DrakoTheNightmare Different people have different tastes in music. Some people adore Justin Beaver, others don't.
The same principle applies to HU.
