Home And Dry Lyrics

The same old argument
We've had so many times
Things never work out right, one step forward
There's always two steps back
You won't admit your false to keep your pride in tact.
Bring me down
Patience is wearing thin, you won't admit your wrong
You just keep holding on
One step forward, there's always two steps back
You won't admit your false to keep your pride intact
I wish it didn't have to be this way
I wish it didn't have to be this way
I've tried so hard to make things right
But nothings really changed
I wish it didn't have to be this way.
What keeps me holding on.
This song is only 5 seconds long
Here we are again
Once again we find ourselves in the same situation
The same old argument
We're having the same argument we've had before
We've had so many times
This is a recurring problem in our relationship
Things never work out right, one step forward
Despite our efforts, things always seem to go wrong
There's always two steps back
We make progress but then encounter setbacks
You won't admit your false to keep your pride in tact.
You refuse to admit fault to avoid damaging your ego
Bring me down
Your behavior is causing me emotional distress
Patience is wearing thin, you won't admit your wrong
I'm becoming less tolerant of your refusal to accept responsibility
You just keep holding on
You refuse to let go of your pride and admit your mistakes
I wish it didn't have to be this way
I desire a better outcome for our relationship
I've tried so hard to make things right
I've put in a lot of effort to improve our situation
But nothings really changed
Despite my efforts, things have not improved
What keeps me holding on.
Despite the lack of progress, I still have hope for our relationship
This song is only 5 seconds long

This silver bird takes me 'cross the sky.
Just one more hour, and I'll be home and dry.
'Cross the ocean, way above the clouds,
I come stealin'.
Feelin' tired, but I feel good,
‘Cause I did everything I said I would.
I think of you, and I know how you'll be feelin'.
I gotta see you. I gotta be with you.
We'll make it better, now, in every way.
It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you.
Yes. From now on, I'll tell you every day.
Way up here, above this timeless sea,
I realize just what it is you mean to me.
You gave me somethin', when I thought
That everything we had was dyin'.
I needed reason just to make me carry on.
Well, I know better, now. I know where I belong.
I can't imagine how I ever let myself
Just give up tryin'.
I gotta see you. I gotta be with you.
We'll make it better, now, in every way.
It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you.
Yes. From now on, I'll tell you every day.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh,
Ooh-ooh. Ooh-ooh-ooh. Yes. Home and dry.
Ain't nothin' up here gonna slow me down.
You know, I never, ever take the long way 'round.
I think of you, cause I know how you'll be feelin'.
This silver bird takes me 'cross the sky.
Just one more hour, and I'll be home and dry.
'Cross the ocean, way above the clouds,
I come stealin'.
I gotta see you. I gotta be with you.
We'll make it better, now, in every way.
It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you.
Yes. From now on, I'll tell you every day.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh,
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh. Yes. Home and dry.

I picked this album up purely for Baker Street thinking that it might be the only good song on the album. Turns out that this is pretty much a masterpiece. Beautiful songs, brilliant production... A new favourite.
Michael Cross
I agree. This i s one of only a small handful of truly flawless albums. Every (and I mean every!) track is brilliant.
Marco Cura
Baker Street is probably the worst track.

May I suggest “Night Owl” or “Fergalies Park”
Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan go together like Rum & Coke 👍✌️🇬🇧
