envy me
Home Grown Lyrics

Because I've got bigger breast
I know you're envious of me
It's useless to pretend
That you want to be my friend
You can't control your jealousy
[Bridge: x2]
Go pick on someone else
"Miss Insecurity" You have no reason to hate me
I'm not your enemy
I'm not your enemy
Why do girls analyze Evaluate and criticize
Other girls that they don't know
Spreading rumors, spreading lies,
Talking shit when I walk by
You're always stepping on my toes
[Chorus]
Jealous of me
Please don't be jealous of me
Please don't be jealous of me
Please don't be jealous of me
[Bridge]
[Chorus]
The song "Envy Me" by Home Grown touches upon the topic of jealousy and insecurity among girls. The opening lines of the song, "You're J.E.A.L.O.U.S because I've got bigger breast", reveal how some girls feel the need to put down others to feel better about themselves. This creates a toxic environment of envy and competition between young women, where self-worth is equated with physical attributes. The singer of the song acknowledges that her peers are envious of her but it's "useless to pretend that you want to be my friend," highlighting how jealousy can often lead to lack of genuine friendship.
As the song progresses, the chorus pleads for girls not to be jealous and to stop criticizing others. The bridge reinforces this message by calling out the "Miss Insecurity" who has no reason to hate the singer. The song questions why girls feel the need to analyze and criticize other girls when they don't even know them, creating a negative environment filled with rumors and lies.
Overall, "Envy Me" portrays the harmful effects of envy and competition among girls, encouraging them to support each other and to focus on building meaningful friendships instead of tearing each other down.
